Wisdom

Hi,

Chiang Rai had another sunny day, in the morning. The afternoon was the usual cloudy thing. Daku had his first 'Play Date', we watched tennis, and had a wonderful swim.

The 'Summer of Love' is still strong in the hearts of some of you. Although this song was covered by a couple of 'brothers', the original was by a duo that was far from related. "Grab a rope, and I'll pull you in. Give you hope, and be your only boyfriend, yeah (yeah) yeah (yeah). I'm talkin' about a __ __ (horns) I'm a __ __ (horns)...." Hint: The title of this song contains a word that was part of the trademark of the late J.B. What?

This morning our friend Kay came over with two of her five dogs. She brought Ploy and Pet to visit with Daku. BamBam stayed in Boot's house for most of the time since she's more territorial. The dogs are the same age as Daku, and much smaller. It took them some time to warm up, but things got friendly. Daku really wanted to play. He'd jump around and bounce on his front paws trying to bait them into chasing him, but they wanted no part of it. Finally, he just went into the house through the kitchen door. Maybe next time they will understand what he wants to do.

While we were in the pool today we heard the call of a bird that is new to the neighborhood. The birds in our yard have become familiar to us not only by their size and coloring, but also their songs. There is one bird that sings everyday at about the same time. It's kind of a jungle sound and it's nice for about a minute, but then it keeps going and going. Then there are the Greater Cucaos that we usually hear but hardly see. They like to hang out in the corn field and 'hoot'. When they take flight it's a real treat. They're about the size of a large Raven, but they're brown with orange wings. Very dramatic. I came up with a name for the three palm trees that house the squawking birds: "Palmdeminium", since there seem to be several families in each tree. Life in the yard is always interesting.

The campaign sound trucks decided to drum up some votes on our road today. The first one came by playing some pretty cool music, but just as it passed our house a voice came blaring out. The second truck went by fast, probably realizing no one was listening anyway. (Ha)

It's too soon to take out the suitcases for our trip, but the list making has begun. In three weeks we'll be back in the U.S. for our Summer Visit.

Have a Thrilling Thursday.

Peace,
Danny
