Heart

Hi,

We woke up to a sunny, dry day. As much as it tried, it never rained. There was more work on the awning, coffee with a friend, learned more about Thai culture, and an afternoon swim.

Many of you knew the 'Summer of Love' song right away. This next verse and chorus should give it away for sure:
"Took her out and tried to win her, had a laugh and over dinner, told her I would really like to see her again. Got the bill and __ paid it, took her home and nearly made it. Sitting on a sofa with a sister or two. Oh, __ __ meter maid, where would I be without you? Give us a wink and make me think of you." Hint: After all those lyrics do you seriously think I'd give you a hint?

The worker that was supposed to have patched the leak in the awning returned this morning. I expected him to approach the awning from the balcony off the bedroom. Instead, he climbed our tall ladder and pulled himself up from below, standing on the support beam and hanging on with one hand. I couldn't watch. He said he got it fixed, but we'll have to wait until the next rain to see for sure.

Mid-morning we met Atom at Doi Chaang for coffee and conversation. She's been going through a rough time dealing with the loss of her beloved dog. She's doing a lot better and told us about a blessing that she and her family did, to 'release' the spirit of 'Sam'. Two glasses are placed on a table. One of the glasses contains water and the other is empty. Over the water glass, they thanked Sam for all the joy he brought, and wished him well. There was more but I don't remember. Then the water is poured into the other glass and then poured on the base of a tree. The idea is that the water gives life to the tree, which gives life to all. This very gentle closure was quite moving.

It's hard to believe that in just five weeks we will be flying back to America for our summer visit. We have lots to do, mostly in the area of prep for Lisa's show in Bangkok. Oh yeah, and the making of the 'lists'.

Have a Thrilling Thursday.

Peace,
Danny
