Slowly

Hi,

The weekend in Chiang Rai was a combination of sunshine, rain, and lots of friends. The river is even wider but now there's an explanation.

That 'Old School Friday' song was "Charlie Brown" by The Coasters. For 'Easy Monday' see if you remember this one: "Your lights are on, but you're not home, your mind is not your own. Your heart sweats, you body shakes, another kiss is what it takes... You know you're gonna have to face it you're __ __ __." Clue: It's gonna take some serious rehab to get over this situation. (Ha)

Saturday morning it looked like any other cloudy day. Around 12:30pm we got yet another 'Storm of the Century' when a monsoonal type deluge hit. It rained so hard that the streets were flooding in some places within 15 minutes. We were out when it hit, but we didn't get wet. Things cleared a bit in the afternoon and by evening it was just cloudy.

We went to 9 Art Gallery for the opening of a very good exhibit of paintings depicting village life in Chiang Rai. The artist captured scenes of typical events with lots of detail. We met more interesting people and saw many friends from the art community.

Sunday was spent making preparations for our afternoon party. We went to the vegetable market in the morning. Back at the house we hung pictures, set up fans, and arranged the furniture and umbrellas on the patio so the afternoon sun would not be too much for our guests. Lisa made her 'famous' Thai style tuna salad, and Boot made coconut chicken, one of my favorite dishes. Even though we told our guests that they didn't have to bring anything, they brought food and drinks. We ended up with 17 people and lots of food. Khun Nine, from the gallery brought a large dessert platter that was a big hit. At one point there were light sprinkles for a few minutes, but it didn't stop anything. The dogs were 'invited' to join the party, on leashes. Daku hung out on the deck for a bit, and BamBam went for a walk with Chalit. They're becoming more social as they mature. The whole affair went on for about five hours and by the time the last guest left, we were beat, but happy. Then came the clean up, and more of the French Open. Our new recorder earned it's keep.

Today we took it easy. Our friend Chalit came over in the morning and we had a nice visit. This afternoon we went to Arisara for a much needed massage. There's nothing like a 90 minute oil massage to relax the body after an active weekend.

Have a Great Week.

Peace,
Danny
