Friday Funnies

Hi,

It was a day like so many others. Lots of clouds, moments of threatening rain, and high humidity. We stayed home all day, playing with the dogs, reading, and an afternoon swim. There was also a little dreaming about changes we'd like to make on the house.

The 'Summer of Love' song was "Lovely Rita" by The Beatles. Ah, now the hints make sense. Time for 'Old School Friday' and this one comes from 1957. It's by an artist with a massive list of hits, movies, and drama. You know this:
"Ah-well I bless my soul, what's wrong with me? I'm itchin' like a man on a fuzzy tree. My friends say I'm actin' wild as a bug. I'm in love, I'm __ __ __. Mm mm oh, oh, yeah, yeah." Hint: The condition of the singer also happens during an earthquake. Hmm.

Today, for some reason, the dogs got two exercise sessions with the ball. They both have different patterns of play when it comes to chasing the ball. Daku will run after it with lots of energy at first, and then take a break and come back strong. BamBam feels the need to investigate the bushes after she catches the ball, if she's near one. If the ball should go into one of the hedges, Daku will make a mild attempt at finding it, but BamBam will jump right in and hunt it down. While her nose is buried in the bush her little tail is going like crazy. She is the 'Ball Finder'. They both had extra long naps this afternoon.

After three years in our house, we are beginning to realize that there are some things we'd like to change. There is an area beside the house that gets very little sunshine, but lots of water from the rain gutters. It stays damp and almost muddy. The solution is to put in 'paving stones', so the dogs won't track mud and it will look nice. There is a walk-way, but when the dogs round the corner on a run to the front, they can't help but make a wide turn into the bog.
There's a bunch more we're thinking about but I'll tell you when it happens. We're still quite happy with the Big Brown House as it is.

With the big election just weeks away, the intensity of the campaigning is evident. The speaker trucks are all over town. I don't think some of the candidates would be too happy if they knew that some of the trucks are just putting in time in an ineffective way. Sometimes we'll see two or three of them parading down a street, one behind the other. All of their speakers are blasting a message that can't be understood because the other trucks are doing the same. The other day we followed a truck that was going very slow, in an area with no people. When I passed the truck the driver was obviously under the influence, doing his best to steer the thing. Hmm. And then there are the posters. We saw one that had two candidates' photos. One of them was wearing dark glasses and they looked just a little suspicious. They may be very nice guys, but the photo looked like something from an old gangster movie.

This weekend we'll be watching the Formula One race from Canada. We'll also be gearing up for Wimbledon. Tonight Lisa is baking cookies. Yum

Have a Wonderful Weekend. It's time for the 'Funnies'.

Peace,
Danny

This Is My First Golf Lesson

The school teacher was taking her first golfing lesson.

"Is the word spelled 'p-u-t or p-u-t-t?' she asked the instructor.

"P-u-t-t is correct," he replied.

"Put means to place a thing where you want it. Putt means merely a vain attempt to do the same thing."
