Doubts

Hi,

Today Chiang Rai was hot and humid. We spent part of the morning returning items that helped make the party a success. The afternoon was full of heavy rain. The dogs got a late, muddy exercise session that they totally enjoyed.

The 'Easy Monday' song is really quite easy. A bunch of you knew this one, but here's more for those in doubt:
"You see the signs, but you can't read, you're runnin' at a different speed. Your heart beats in double time, another kiss, and you'll be mine.... Whoa, you like to think that you're immune to the stuff, oh yeah. It's closer to the truth to say you can't get enough, you know you're gonna have to face it, you're __ __ __." Hint: The singer's videos were well known for their depiction of a 'band' of models with heavy makeup pretending to play instruments. The singer was always dressed in a sharp suit and tie. He's no longer with us.

Under cloudy skies we went out this morning and returned chairs and flatware to Gary and Baan, and platters to Khun Nine. We also made a stop at Bliss Studio to drop off donations to The Sold Project. While we were there Chalit showed us some of the portraits he's been commissioned to take of prominent people in the history of Chiang Rai. It's part of the 750th anniversary of the city that will be celebrated next year. The photos are very creative and really capture the personalities of the subjects.

On our way home we drove through the village of Ban Mai. While sitting at a light we watched a woman wash her hair right by the side of the road, in front of her shop. We also noticed that most of the trailers that people tow behind their motorbikes are not securely attached. There is a bar that goes across the seat and they either tie it on or sit on the bar. Hmm. This evening I saw a young woman riding side-saddle on the back of a bike, holding two large triangular shaped boxes containing guitars. Another local observation was a Samlor driver pushing his vehicle on the uphill side of the bridge, with his passenger walking beside him. They were chatting away, and when they reached the top, she got in and they continued on their way. Amazing Thailand.

The storm this afternoon left the yard soaked, with a few little lakes. The dogs didn't get their usual run, but this evening Lisa took them out and they had big fun chasing the ball and running through puddles. Needless to say, she had a big clean-up job when it was over, but the dogs are very happy.

Yesterday I mentioned that I got an explanation as to why the river was being dredged, and the shoreline changed. It seems that the bend in the river, just east of the bridge, puts extra stress on the shore on the north side of the river. By widening the river on the south shore in the turn, the water will flow without rising and eroding the other side. That's life on the river. We still don't know if there will be much of a beach when they're done.

Have a Happy Tuesday.

Peace,
Danny
