Light

Hi,

Hot and humid has been the weather this week.  Rain clouds moved in during the afternoon and we were sure it would storm.  We ended up with very light rain for most of the evening.  What a tease.

This week’s ‘Zany Day’ song was a favorite of mine when I was in junior high school.  It’s still a fun song.
“Want some lovin’, baby, that ain’t all.  I wanna kiss her but the gal’s too tall.  Young man rhythm’s got hold of me too.  I got the __ __ __ __ __ __ __.”  Clue:  The singer was stricken with two music related illnesses.

This morning we went to The Wanderer for the usual.  While we were waiting for our order, a woman came into the ‘Glass Room’ carrying a big bag.  She set it down and then said, ‘This must be JaiDee.  You’re famous.’  We all laughed and she explained that she is a good friend of Katai and Towan, and they talk about him all the time.  She is an artist whose medium is colored pencils.  She was there to give a lesson.  Her work is very good, mostly animals, but very realistic and colorful.

After taking JaiDee home, we went to Big C.  The first thing one sees when entering the store is a huge display of candles of all sizes, almost all of them are orange.  We are approaching the Buddhist holiday of Asahna Bucha Day, commemorating the first sermon that Buddha delivered.  There are usually parades featuring creative candle displays.

Big C didn’t have many things we needed, so we went to Central Plaza Mall to see if Top’s Market could fill the gaps.
One of the new features at Big C and Top’s is the creation of ‘Elderly, pregnant, or handicap’ check-out lines.  We took advantage of the new lines at both stores.  Sometimes the line might be shorter, but not necessarily faster.

Today’s photo was taken at Bangkok Hospital yesterday.  We went to the canteen on the second floor, hoping to get some lunch.  There was nothing we could eat in the hot food line so we were introduced to the 7-11 vending machine.  This was a very impressive device that had us fascinated.  A woman from the canteen helped us search through the offerings.  We watched someone else buy some food and saw the machine deliver the food.  A tray rises up to the level of the order, the machine pushes the food onto the tray and then lowers it down to the access door.  No dropping of food.  The window on the right scrolls to let you pick your food and your choice of payment.  In the end, we couldn’t eat anything from 7-11 either.

We talked to ‘Teacher Cat’ and heard about her new life.  She is in charge of taking the students' temperatures in the morning when they arrive, and making sure they wash their hands.  At the end of the day they have to wash their hands again before going home.  There is also a mask check.  This is besides the classroom teaching.  That part of it is already being rewarding.  The children did their work, greeted her with enthusiasm and paid attention.  Just what a new teacher needs.

For her second day of school, Nitchanan came out with a very sleepy face.  She gave us a wave as they left for school, but it wasn’t as bubbly as the first day.  A lot of energy goes into being at school, especially after such a long break.  She’s still happy about it all.

Have a Thrilling Thursday.      This may be the time for an indoor picnic to celebrate.

                          Peace,
                                    Danny

who is afraid of the dark; the real
tragedy of life is when men are
afraid of the light.”
