Life

Hi,

The weekend weather was very mild.  Kind of a prelude to this week and the cold they’ve been promising.  Today was definitely cooler, and tonight was quite chilly on our walk.  There are threatening clouds and cold wind.  What’s gonna happen?

The ‘Old School Friday’ song was “Just My Imagination” by The Temptations.  Here’s an ‘Easy Monday’ that should connect with most of you.  “__ __, so good to me, __ __, it was all I hoped it would be.  Oh __ morning, __ morning couldn’t guarantee that __ evening you would still be here with me.”  Hint:  There is a day of the week involved, twice.

The battle with covid continues in the lower part of Thailand.  The second wave is clearly here and though they can’t make it go away quickly.  With the virus making daily headlines it’s easy to miss some of the other things happening here.  For instance, China will be holding back water to it’s downriver neighbors on the Mekong River.  That means that we may see the river levels drop a bit over the 20 day period.  The reasons are a little hard to understand, but a hydroelectric plant is involved.

Yesterday we traveled north to an area just south of Mae Chan, to Panor Coffee Shop and Restaurant for a meeting.  As we pulled onto the dirt road Lisa commented how there are so many wonderful places out in the middle of what seems like ‘nowhere’.  There were some farms in the distance, but it was pretty vacant until we saw the main sign.  It was like we found an oasis.  The main, original, shop has a very Euro flavor, but outside is very Thai.  There was a big pond, and several out-buildings for dining.  If a tractor hadn’t been working next to us, it would have been totally quiet.  The owner is constantly upgrading and adding to the place.  After the meeting, nine of us stayed for lunch under filtered sunlight and had a great time.

This morning we took our ‘man about town’ to Chivit Thamma Da for a little ice, rawhide and attention.  He got all three with extras.  We were about to leave when Joakim and Nam Kok arrived.  JaiDee and Kok had a friendly greeting and then JaiDee proceeded to snuggle up to his host.  Nam Kok came over to me and it was clear that no one wanted to be left out of the affection giving.

This afternoon Natcha and Gong picked up their first car, a nine-year-old one-owner Honda sedan that appears to be in very good condition.  They are very excited about having a car.  We are also very happy about it since they will be much safer on the road.  Nitchanan couldn’t stop telling me about it when I first saw her.  I asked her if she could drive it and she laughed.

Have a Great Week.

                    Peace,
                              Danny
