Tolerance

Hi,

We had a rainy weekend.  Most of Saturday afternoon, Sunday and today, there was water falling from the sky.  Today was the coolest day, but it was still very humid.  This storm system is coming from Viet Nam and will be here for most of the week, according to the people who don't look out of the windows and predict the weather (555).

The ‘Old School Friday’ song was “Hello Stranger” by Barbara Lewis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5BRuWS9iAk  Now that’s settled, let’s have an ‘Easy Monday’.  “I’ve got sunshine, on a cloudy day.  When it’s cold outside, I’ve got the month of May.  I’ll guess you’d say, what can make me feel this way, __ __, talkin’ ‘bout __ __ (__ __).”  Hint:  This one is way too easy for hints.

When it gets ‘drippy’ outside we tend to stay at home.  Well, except when it’s time to go to coffee with JaiDee.  We did the usual things each morning, and just hung out in the afternoons.  Saturday night there were only two other people on the walking path besides us, and every time we passed them, they would chuckle at JaiDee.  He had started a circular rawhide treat before we left home and he wouldn’t leave it.  He carried it for 40 minutes, all the way from the house around the track and back to the house.

JaiDee and his treat.

On Sunday night the weather was so bad that we almost didn’t go.  There was a break in the rain so we went for it.  This time we had the whole place to ourselves.  We just walked up and down the street.  An attempt to got farther was met with an increase in the rain and we went home.  Even though we didn’t do a long walk, JaiDee saw it as the ‘End of the Day’ and promptly assumed his sleeping position when we got home.  Hmm, does this mean he doesn’t have to go as far every night?  Time will tell.

There was an article in one of the English-speaking newspapers about how the women of the ‘Long Neck’ tribes have had to go back to Myanmar due to the drop in tourism.  For many years they have been able to sustain themselves in villages subsidized by the government and some private organizations.  Now, with no ‘visitors’, there is no income. Most of those who had to leave are now doing farm work at a fraction of what they made selling their handicrafts.  A rate of $4.34 per day is not much to live on.  Hopefully, when things get better and the borders open, they can return.

Today we had a huge puddle in the back yard and a little river in the front.  That means we had moderate rain.  Our neighbors with the coffee shop had a little lake behind the shop.  It will soon be time for some drainage over there.

Have a Great Week.        Please by careful out there.

                              Peace,
                                        Danny
