Virus

Hi,

This morning there was a light drizzle, probably left over from last night's rain.  Today was just a cloudy mess, but much cooler.  We actually got a chance to open the windows and let the fresh air blow through the house.  Aaah.

The ‘Easy Monday’ song has some friends.  Here’s the second verse:  “Cool town, evening in the city.  Dressed so fine and looking so pretty.  Cool cat, looking for a kitty, gonna look in every corner of the city.  Till I’m wheezing like a bus stop, running up the stairs, gonna meet you on the rooftop.  But at night it’s a different world.  Go out and find a girl.  Come-on, come-on and dance all night.  Despite the heat it’ll be alright…”  Clue:  This time of year, obviously very hot, but the beat goes on.

Mr. Daku has been a ball of energy lately.  He had a protein combo dinner of fish and beef and it revved him up pretty good.  On his walk he encountered the cats.  They know that the wall is a safe place so they run to it and just stare at Daku.  He stands at the base, starring back.  Wild kingdom it is not.

We did the Big C, Starbuck’s, Mall run this morning.  Tuesday morning is a good time to shop at Big C, it was almost empty.  There seem to be a lot of people with leisure time in Chiang Rai, evidenced by the foot traffic in Central Plaza.

Today’s photo was taken at the mall, outside of the Apple store.  It always strikes me as curious.  I think you know why.

There is a new ‘thing’ happening here in Thailand: Food Panda.  It’s in all of the major cities and several beach resort towns.  Basically, it’s a food delivery service that has a website listing participating restaurants and coffee shops.  You order on-line and motorcycle delivery people bring it to you in a big insulated box.  It must be working because we see the bikes with pink boxes on the back all over town.

We’re at that point before our trip to the States where we go into ‘countdown mode’.  What to take, what to get, who to see before we leave, who to see when we get there, and on and on.  One thing I have to do is continue to study the sample test for the California driver license.  Mine expired while we were here, and this is the year they want me to take the information test.  So far, it doesn’t seem so bad, but I’m not going to sit back and rest on past knowledge.  I know they change things in the laws and rules so I’ll study.  The day after we arrive, I’ll go early and try to get a spot.  Yet another adventure.

The reason we’re flying All Nippon Airways instead of EVA is due to a strike by the cabin crew.  It looks like it will still be going on when we leave.  Hopefully, they will settle it before we have to return to Thailand.  We’re missing our usual seating and the miles that might let us come home in business class.  What?  Wait a minute.  Hmm.

Have a Happy Tuesday.

                      Peace,
                                Danny
