Shadows

Hi,

It was a busy weekend here in Chiang Rai. There was a trip to the vet, a big rain storm, an evening at the Bazaar, a party, World Cup Soccer, and Formula One. Whew.

The 'Old School' song was: "Rockin' Pneumonia and the Boogie Woogie Flu" by Huey 'Piano' Smith and The Clowns. It's been covered by everyone from Johnny Rivers to The Grateful Dead. Now you know. 'Easy Monday' should be a snap: "__ __ __ __ __ __ __ she'll be rising. She'll find the note I left hangin' on her door. She'll laugh when she reads the part that says I'm leavin', 'cause I've left that girl so many times before." Clue: It's another title in seven words about a man who's traveling, and the girl he left for good. Several cities in the Southwest are featured.

Saturday morning, while grooming Daku, Lisa noticed a quarter size sore on his cheek under his fur. We took him to the vet, and discovered he had an allergic reaction to an insect bite. He's going to be OK, but he has to take medicine, and have salve applied. The hardest part of it is that BamBam can't be around him because she might lick the salve. Keeping the dogs separated has been very difficult for both of them. They usually spend so much time together that they're getting very frustrated. We have to feed them separately, and they don't get to play in the yard together. One more day, and hopefully, they'll get back to their old routine.

Around sunset on Saturday the wind started blowing, and all of a sudden it was storming. One of those hard, blowing rains that lasted for about a half an hour, and then sprinkled for the rest of the evening. Boot, Jindah, and Leah had just set up a little dinner on the patio, but had to come inside. The canopy did it's job, and kept the rain out of the house, and the rain gutters worked perfectly.

Sunday we did our usual lunch and shopping at Big C. We had a pleasant day. In the evening went to the Night Bazaar for dinner, and some shopping. From there we went to a little party at Nate and Rachel's. Nate will be returning to The States this week so it was kind of a casual goodbye party. As we were leaving. a large group of kids from the Resource Center for the Sold Project arrived. Nate and Rachel have been working with them for a year so it was a special time for them.

There's a weird thing happening with the TV feed we're getting for the World Cup. There is no commentary. Just the sound of the crowd, which consists of those horns that are blown constantly. We finally turned the sound off and just watched. Today we watched an exciting Formula One race from Canada.

Have a Great Week.

Peace,
Danny
