Why

Hi,

Another weather day worthy of the tour brochure.  It was actually cool this morning.  Our lows are in the low 70’s.

Only a few readers responded to the ‘Easy Monday’ song.  It’s from 1966, from an album named for something that goes around.  “I want her everywhere, and if she’s beside me I know I need never care, but to love her is to need her everywhere, knowing that love is to share, each one believing that love never dies, watching her eyes and hoping I’m always there… I will be there.”  Clue:  Two of the three words in the title are in the lyrics.

Today was the anniversary of the death of Rama IX, one of the most beloved Kings in Thai history.  In his memory, there is a public holiday on October 13 every year.  Schools were closed as well as many businesses.

Last night we enjoyed an amazing view from The Peak restaurant, on the 10th floor of the Riverie hotel.  Today’s photo is the new walk/run/bike track that was recently completed.  This may become our new place to walk JaiDee.  We drove over there tonight, but there was no one there and we weren’t sure if it’s officially open yet.  I’d hate to drive over the access bridge and then have the gate close and lock us in for the night (555).  We’ll check it out during the day and see what’s happening.  The surface is uniform all the way around and that will be a plus.

Last week I mentioned that Nitchanan was practicing writing the alphabet in English and Thai.  Now she’s working on multiplication tables, reciting them in Thai at a rapid pace.  Natcha made a video of her and it’s quite something to see the determination on her face.

We got a notice from the U.S. State Department letting us know that there will be a demonstration tomorrow (Wednesday) in Bangkok.  It’s a long way from here, but it’s nice to know that they are concerned about the safety of citizens, just in case things get rowdy.  So far, the students have been very peaceful.

Have a Happy Tuesday.

                            Peace,
                                      Danny
