Friday Funnies

Hi,

The temperature is slowly dropping, not cool yet, but not scorching hot.  Tonight was a starry night.

The ‘Jazzy Wednesday’ tune was “Satin Doll,” music by Duke Ellington, arranged by Billy Strayhorn, lyrics by Johnny Mercer.  One of the early, definitive vocals was by Ella Fitzgerald.  ‘Old School Friday’ is not so old, 1973:
“__, __ __, I haven’t seen you for a long, long time.  Maybe I think too much but something's wrong, there’s something here that doesn’t last too long.  Maybe I shouldn’t think of you as mine.  Seeing you, or seeing anything as much as I do you.  I take for granted that you’re always there, I take for granted that you just don’t care.  Sometimes I can’t help seeing all the way through.”  Hint:  The singer is reintroducing himself in the title.  Trying to rekindle a romance.

The morning was spent at The Big Brown House.  I ‘Zoomed’ over to Phoenix, Arizona to a meeting while Lisa Skyped over to Nevada.  You might say we were out and about, in a virtual manner of speaking.  During our breakfast, we could tell that JaiDee’s footing was much better while he played with TongTong.  Not as much slipping and sliding.

Today’s photo was taken on the way to The Wanderer.  We see this Mercedes almost every time we go for coffee.  To see a stylized sedan, with blacked out chrome and slight ‘drop’, makes my heart sing.  It’s almost gangster.

This afternoon we went to Overbrook Hospital and got our flu shots.  In the afternoon, the place is quite laid back.  Hardly anyone waiting to see a doctor, and very little waiting for services.  Our friend Nurse Pay gave us the injections and she is the most painless ‘injector’ I have ever encountered.  We always try to arrange it so she gives us the shots.

Across the street from the hospital is a tiny little shop that’s owned by our friend Pui.  We first met her years ago when she had a little stall in the Night Bazaar.  She makes jewelry from old antique beads, or things she finds in thrift shops.  We stopped by to do a little shopping.  She gave me a really cool braided bracelet and discounted Lisa’s basket of stuff.  It’s a fun place because it’s very crowded, so there’s something to see everywhere you look.

A swim before dinner and a walk after, and the day began to wind down.

Have a Wonderful WeekEnd.           Time for the ‘Funnies’.      It’s Formula 1 from The Nurburgring in Germany.

                             Peace,
                                       Danny
