The Chiang Rai weather was great today. Lots of blue sky along with the clouds. There was a thunder exhibition this evening, but no rain.
The ‘Jazzy Wednesday’ tune was “My Funny Valentine” as sung by any number of artists. The ‘Old School Friday’ song is a different matter. The original ‘hit’ of this song was recorded back in 1955. “Oh my love, my darling, I’ve hungered for your touch, a long, lonely time. And time goes by so slowly, and time can mean so much, are you still mine? I need your love, I need your love, God speed your love to me.” Hint: Written for a prison film. The title is not in the lyrics, but it’s got a great melody. The singer was a sightless baritone who sang with Duke Ellington’s band.
This morning was different at The Big Brown House. While we were eating our breakfast, the dogs did their usual thing. JaiDee eats ice and TongTong (her new designation) roams around, hoping for a treat. JaiDee wandered down the hall and grabbed a hand towel, one of his favorite things, and came prancing down the hall looking like he’d just one a special prize. Lisa took it from him but he didn’t lose his playful mood. He engaged TongTong and she responded with enthusiasm. We sat and watched them bounce around, wrestle and do most of the same things they do on the lawn. I think we’ll probably see more of this in the future. And all this was before their breakfast. Dogs.
After the rest of our ‘normal’ morning the grownups went to The Wanderer. We had a very relaxed time and visited with Khwan, discussing healthy alternatives to various popular foods.
In the afternoon we went to the nursery to get a couple of gifts for two friends who have an art opening tomorrow. From there we went to ‘art supply street’ and got two new footballs (soccer) for JaiDee. The one that remained in the yard has become a combination chew toy/pacifier. He tried to pick one of them up, but there’s too much air in them. He had fun chasing them and playing football anyway.
Today’s photos were taken from Thai TV a few months ago. It’s plow racing at it’s finest. They’ve been modified with the big fenders. The first pic is the start, and the second shows the action. Zoom.
Saturday afternoon the little family is going to Mae Sai for an overnight stay. That’s where Gong’s family lives. We will be on our own (so pitiful), fending for ourselves in this cruel world (555). Knowing Natcha, we’ll have more than enough food. Today she baked another batch of cookies. Life is good.
Have a Wonderful WeekEnd. Time for the ‘Funnies’. Stay safe, regardless of what you think or hear.
Peace,
Danny
