Friday Funnies

 Hi,

Today the weather felt like summertime.  I guess we got a pass on that winter thing for the time being.  I’m OK with that.

The ‘Jazzy Wednesday’ tune was “Fly Me To The Moon” as made famous by Frank Sinatra and anybody who played Vegas (observation from my brother).  It was written by Bart Howard.  Count Basie and his orchestra accompanied Sinatra and he's been credited as the writer, but he wasn’t.  Now you know.  Time for ‘Old School Friday’ and another  old song I think you should know:  “They’re really rockin’ in Boston, in Pittsburg, Pa.  Deep in the heart of Texas, and ‘round the Frisco Bay.  All over St. Louis, way down in New Orleans, all the cats wanna dance with __ __ __.”  Hint:  This 1958 ‘Old School’ is by the man I consider the ‘Father of Rock & Roll’, the man who made the ‘Duck Walk’ a thing, taught all the tricks to all the kids, aka Johnny B. Goode.  The song is a tribute to the fans of a budding musical form.

This morning we left the house without the dog.  We explained to him that Big C still doesn’t allow dogs.  He took it well.  (555)  When we got home from our errands, the players were warming up across the river.  All afternoon and into this evening we have been serenaded by bass guitar and bass drum.  I’m sure there’s something else going on, but we can’t hear it.  We also had the added treat of another band playing at the apartments behind us.  They didn’t go as long, yet, but it was still a little confusing as to what to listen to.  It seemed like when the band behind us stopped, someone started setting off fireworks.  It was just another lazy afternoon in the village.

The reason for all this celebration is commemorating the death of King Chulalongkorn, also known as Rama V.  He is credited with being the King who saved Siam from colonization and moved the country into the modern world.  He ended a form of slavery and traveled to the West and negotiated with the rest of the world.  Rama V is like a folk hero to many Thais and he still commands the respect of the populace.

At 15 months old, this morning JaiDee decided to try and pee like a big boy.  He went to his favorite plant and lifted his leg, only to topple over.  Maybe it takes practice.  Here he is with his composure regained.

Have a Wonderful WeekEnd.   Time for the ‘Funnies’, and a reminder about the Formula 1 race in Portugal.  Zoom

                      Peace,
                                Danny
