Nature

Hi,

Another day, another smoke filled sky.  There was a report on Facebook that there was wind and rain north of us in Mae Chan.  Now it’s getting very windy at our house.  We live in hope.

The ‘Easy Monday’ song was “Rainy Days and Mondays” by The Carpenters.  Now you know who sang this next song:
“Day after day I must face a world of strangers where I don’t belong, I’m not that strong.  It’s nice to know that there’s someone I can turn to who will always care, you’re always there.  When there’s no getting over that rainbow, when my smallest of dreams won’t come true.  I can take all the madness the world has to give, but __ __ __ __ __ __ __.”  Hint:  You’ll notice that it’s not really a ‘Zany Day’ song.  They didn’t do zany songs that were popular.  This really is a love song, though it doesn’t seem like it.  Something about endurance through 24 hours.

As we strolled around IconSiam on Sunday, it was time for coffee.  Just around the bend we saw the sign: CPS Coffee.  We’d never heard of this name so we gave it a look.  It had a different look than places we’re used to so we went up to the counter and ordered.  Something about this place really appealed to me.  For lack of a better term, I’ll call it ‘Coffee Chic’.  The screens on the counter explain the different brews such as Hand Drip and Nitro Brew.  Our iced coffee was served in a manner befitting IconSiam.  I must say, that was a most comfortable couch for sipping coffee.

This morning we went out fairly early and had coffee at The Wanderer.  Mercy greeted us inside and then Khun Kwan came to our table and we had an interesting conversation about the coffee shop business.  The bad air isn’t helping many businesses that are more or less outside enterprises.  The tourism board announced that hotel bookings are down for the Songkran Festival this year, because of the smokey air.  After coffee we went to our local nursery for a few plants and some border material for a new flower bed Gong created.  Several shops were closed, probably due to the air, but we did get a couple of flowering plants that are now adding color to the poolside view.

Daku has had his upstairs privileges partially restored.  He’s been spending the evenings with us, as well as overnight.  We’re leaving the climbing to his judgment and our observations.  If he hasn’t been limping and wants to come upstairs, we let him.  We’re all happy.

Feels like a Wacky Wednesday.

                         Peace,
                                   Danny
