Expect

Hi,

Today began with nice traveling weather.  By the time we got to Chiang Mai, it was hot like Chiang Rai.  Forecasts of thunderstorms were just that, forecasts.  The beat goes on.

The ‘Easy Monday’ song was “We Are The Champions” by Queen.  Here’s a little ‘Zany Day’ number for you:
“I have a mansion, forget the price.  Ain’t never been there, they tell me it’s nice.  I live in hotels, tear out the walls.  I have accountants pay for it all.  They say I’m crazy but I have a good time.  I’m just looking for clues at the scene of the crime.  __ __ __ to me so far.”  Hint:  We’ve done this one before.  It’s a tribute to one of the crazy parts of R&R, so they tell me.
We had the standard 3 hour bus trip to Chiang Mai.  When we arrived at the D2 hotel we were greeted with 'welcome back' by a smiling young man.

The front desk suggested we allow an hour to get to the hospital.  Our driver used all the alley shortcuts and we arrived very early.  That gave us plenty of time to get comfortable with the staff at Bangkok Hospital.  It's part if a growing chain that we first encountered on Koh Samui.  Most of the staff speak English and made us feel cared for.  The doctor for my consultation is a specialist and answered all of our questions.  At first it was sounding like he would do the surgery next week, but when I told him I'd like to get it over with, he said he could arrange for tomorrow.  I spent the rest of the afternoon being poked, prodded, stuck, and scrutinized.  I’ve been cleared for take-off.  Surgery begins at 1pm Thursday (Thailand time).  Lisa will spend the night with me at the hospital, and I may be able to go back to the hotel on Friday.  This will not be a laparoscopic procedure, which means I'm going to have a longer recovery time.  The hospital will help us hire a mini-van to drive us back to Chiang Rai.
That’s the story so far.  We’ll get up at 5am, have breakfast, then I have to fast until the surgery.  Check-in is at 9am.  What?

For a little change of mood, here’s another photo from The Wanderer.  The moss on the border grew naturally in this forest environment.  All the borders on the paths and ponds will look like that eventually.

Your Thursday message may be a brief one, if at all.  I’ll be in the hospital and just might be a little woozy.

It’s a Wacky Wednesday for sure.

                   Peace,
                             Danny
