See

Hi,

Today the weather in the L.A. area started off cool, and then got hot.  We experienced rush-hour traffic, a mall, and a large grocery store.  This is not Chiang Rai.

I finally found a song with a 'Bad Ass Bass' that everyone can relate to.  Have you written in with your answer?
"It's a dirty story of a dirty man, and his clinging wife doesn't understand.  His son is working for the Daily Mail, it's a steady job but he wants to be a __ __, __ __."  Clue: The title of the song is a job that the singer wants.

After a breakfast that included turkey bacon (can't get that in Chiang Rai) we took a deep breath and got on the Santa Monica freeway at 9am.  Where were all those people going?  Our destination was Altadena for a visit with my mom.  We actually made pretty good time once we cleared the downtown area.  Even though we were here four months ago, there is still a fascination when driving on such a wide, smooth highway.

We had a great visit with my mom, starting with garden appreciation.  She brought us up-to-date on her current activities, and we showed her some short movies of Daku and Jago playing.  She is really looking forward to Saturday's celebrations.  In the afternoon there will be a Birthday party/Family Reunion in L.A.  Many generations of cousins, nieces, and nephews will gather.  In the evening the festivities will be held at her church in Pasadena.  The Family and all of the sororities, school associates and longtime friends will come together for an evening of remembering.  Her life has touched so many others, and they are eager to come and pay tribute on her 90th Birthday.

This evening we had dinner with C-Bass and August.  They like to watch old episodes of a reality game show and that's what we got to see during dinner.  When C-Bass finished, he abruptly jumped up and went into his room and started playing his drums.  He's quite good, but the sound of the drums completely drowned out the TV, and made for a surreal encounter.  Later August came to our apartment and he and Lisa played silly card games.

Tomorrow we have scheduled visits with friends in The Marina during the day and dinner with Karen Jo, Lisa's step-sister, and Sandy.  They visited us in Thailand.  The reunions continue.

Have a Thrilling Thursday.

                 Peace,
                            Danny
