Friday Funnies

Hi,

Things are the same when it comes to Chiang Rai weather. We stayed inside for most of the day, but I know it was hot and smokey. The big news in our part of the world is the new paint job on the bridge.

I guess "Born To Be Wild" was an anthem for some of you, and may still be. It was by Steppenwolf. 'Old School Friday' is next, and since it's been such an easy week, I'm starting from the second verse. It's a personal favorite of mine.
"He uses all the great quotations. Says the things I wish I could say. Whoa, but he's had so many rehearsals girl, to him it's just another play.... He don't love you, like I love you, if he did he wouldn't break your heart...." Clue: This 1960 hit is by a singer who made quite an impression in his early career. (there's a clue in that sentence) The title of this song is not actually stated, but if you know your 'Old School', you'll know it.

I'm not sure if it's made the world news desks yet, but there has been a lot of burning of fields in Burma, Thailand, and Laos and the air has been quite bad for a week. Efforts are being made in Chiang Mai to curb the burning of crop waste and trash, but nothing seems to be changing. There are big fires in Burma that will have to burn themselves out, meanwhile we just stay inside with the air filter and the air/con. Today we didn't run the dogs, tomorrow may be better. It has also taken a toll on tourism and that means the early end of what was a lucrative 'season'.

This morning we met with a new attorney to handle our legal affairs. He came highly recommended by our friend Jimmy and Poui. It's not like we have big-time legal issues or big business, but things come up and it's vital to have an English speaking lawyer who knows all levels of Thai law. We were very pleased with our first visit.

OK, the big news you've been waiting to hear: The bridge over the river by our house is being painted and the color is bright vivid pink. The horizontal rails and the curb are all pink and the vertical bars are dark blue. You will probably be able to see it from Google Earth it's so 'loud'. I'm sure it will be added to the special sight-seeing attractions for Chiang Rai. (555) When they're done I'll post some photos.

Have a Wonderful WeekEnd. Now it's time to laugh. We revisit a joke that my friends enduring winter will appreciate.

Peace,
Danny

Weather For The Dogs

To tell the weather, go to your back door and look for the dog.

If the dog is at the door and he is wet, it's raining. If the dog is
standing there really soaking wet, it is raining very hard.

If the dog's fur looks like it's been rubbed the wrong way, it's windy.

If the dog has snow on his back, it's probably snowing.

Of course, to be able to tell the weather like this, you have to leave
the dog outside all the time, especially if you expect bad weather.

Sincerely,
THE CAT
