Life

Hi,

We had a clear, sunny day for a road trip to Mae Sai. Along the way we learned more about Thai culture and got another look at the beautiful rice.

The 'Dealer's Choice' song got a couple of responses. I think today's lyrics will set the record straight. "Well, you don't know what we can find. Why don't you come with me little girl, on a __ __ __. You don't know what we can see. Why don't you tell your dreams to me. Fantasy will set you free. Hint: Read yesterday's clue.

This morning we got an early start on our trip to immigration. They open at 8:30am and we had a 10am appointment at the frame factory. Just north of Ban Mai, which is close to us, we saw a long parade of Monks by the roadside. People were giving them offerings and pick-up trucks were being loaded with what we assume were the gifts. Today was the first day after the three month Buddhist Lent, also called Thod Kathin, the presentation of Monk's robes. It signals the end of the "Rains Retreat" when monks stay in the temples at night. The line was very long and there were people waiting for about 1/2 mile up the highway in order to make their offerings.

When we got to the immigration office we were told that it wasn't time for our check-in, so we have to go back next month. It was what I'd call a frustrating relief. We thought we were late and might have to pay a fine. It all worked out. On the way back we stopped for coffee at a place we've seen many times. The coffee wasn't that good, but it was a nice break. We made it to the factory on time and the final framing looks great.

The logistics of getting Lisa's artwork to Bangkok has become a little complicated due to the flooding that's going on in the provinces south of us. I won't bore you with the details, but with a little effort, the show will go on.

The people of Thailand have been responding to the call for help as many in the flooded areas are now homeless. All over the country donations of food, water and clothing are being made. It's heartwarming to see how everyone pulls together in a crisis.

Have a Thrilling Thursday.

Peace,
Danny
