Rainbow

Hi,

Sunshine, wind, and rain were all on the weather menu this weekend. It didn't stop us from doing our usual things. We went to a cultural affair, dined at the Night Bazaar, watched Netball and Formula One, and swam. Whew.

The 'Old School Friday' song seems to have eluded all but Cousin Trudye. It was "Sweet Little Sixteen" by Chuck Berry. Now it's time for 'Easy Monday' and I'm thinking you might remember this one. It came out in 1980.
"Young teacher, the subject, of schoolgirl fantasy. She wants him, so badly, knows what she wants to be. Inside her there's longing, this girl's an open page. Book marking, she's close now, this girl is half his age..." Hint: The title is six words. It's by a trio from across the pond. Somebody gets very nervous in this song. Hmm.

Saturday evening we went to Le Meridien Hotel for the 20th anniversary of the Alliance Francaise school here in Chiang Rai. The goal of Alliance Francaise is to promote French as a second language and also French culture. There was a photo exhibit of works by one of the teachers. Then we saw a slideshow about the history of the school, and a performance of some very cool music by an international jazz ensemble. Each player was from a different country. Thailand was represented by the sax player. Our table was made up mostly of people we knew, which made it fun. We also met new people and had a good time.

When we returned home from our evening out, it was time for the British Grand Prix. It was a very exciting race and a great end to our international night.

Sunday we did the Big C thing and noticed that a lot of the vendors are gone. We're not sure why that is, but several 'land marks' were gone. While on that subject, we are missing our neighborhood fruit vendors. The couple that ran the stand have been gone for a couple of weeks. It was convenient having them so close. One thing that isn't gone are the chickens. They seem to be back, if the presence of the rooster's crow is any indication. What's nice is that there is only one rooster. There used to be four or five and every time one would crow, the others followed. We mostly hear the sounds of the many birds that inhabit the trees in our yard. It's nice.

The time has come for serious bag packing. The decision making process has begun. What to take, what to wear, and what do we need to bring back. Makin' a list and checkin' it twice. (Ha)

Have a Great Week.

Peace,
Danny
