Friday Funnies

Hi,

Today we did lunch, had coffee in the marina, ran errands, and spent the afternoon with August and C-Bass. There's also more important news about the picnic.

The song I was looking for was "Aja" by Steely Dan. Brady even mentioned the Wayne Shorter sax solo. For 'Old School Friday' we visit 1961, and this classic. It was the first hit by a group that went on a ride on a train to Georgia.
"With __ __ __ __ __ there's a beat for you. In every toast of wine, there's a toast for you. In all my conversation, your my inspiration, and everything I do I do for you." Clue: The song makes reference to that thing in your chest that keeps you alive.

This morning I went to exchange the Nissan Versa for a nicer car. My first stop was a bust because they didn't have any cars. I finally ended up at the Hertz airport location, and they gave me a Mazda 3. Zoom, Zoom. I really like this car.

For lunch, we met with our friend Richard at a Japanese restaurant. We did a lot of catching up, and also got a glowing report about the Doi Chaang coffee beans that we brought him last trip. We got raw beans, and he roasted them himself. After lunch we went next door and had coffee with our friend Claire. We communicate through email, but it was good to get together and talk.

We picked August up from camp, and then we drove to the Culver City Park to get a look at the picnic area. It's located behind the skate park area, and there's a walkway off of Duquesne, just past the first grassy area that you see from the street. There are picnic tables, and three small shaded areas. There is a small parking area farther up the hill on the left side of the road. We'll put up a few 'Danny & Lisa' signs to guide you.

Back at the house, August worked on another invention. A few days ago Lisa taught him how to sew, and how to use his mom's sewing machine. He started making a place mat made from small pieces of fabric. Before he could finish, the needle broke. That didn't stop him from 'working' with the machine. Realizing that there was a spinning wheel on the thing, he attached a spoked wheel that he made, and created a dumb waiter connected to the TV stand. That broke but he felt the air blowing off the spokes so today he added fan blades to the spokes. Now he can press on the pedal of the sewing machine and get a blast of air. His next project will be to create a duct to move the air. Eventually he'll get a new needle and finish the first project.

Lisa helped C-Bass with a creative writing paper he's been working on for a summer school class. He'll be 16 next month, and has a way with words. He has a sharp sense of humor, and likes to write comedic stuff.

Don't forget: This Sunday, July 18, is the picnic. Culver City Park (Jefferson & Duquesne) 11am to 4pm. Hughes Ave. north of Culver Blvd., becomes Duquesne Ave. South of Culver Blvd. Looking forward to seeing you there.

Tomorrow we go to the beach with Anna, and The Boys.

Have a Wonderful WeekEnd. The 'Funnies' are from my friend Claire. Thanks.

Peace,
Danny

I need someone to refresh my memory. How many cars are allowed through an intersection after the light turns red? Is it three or five?
