Mistakes

Hi,

We had a hot weekend here in Chiang Rai. It threatened rain but nothing appeared. We enjoyed the pool and discovered the new bus station. (it's not in the pool) Ha!

The song for the weekend was "Night Moves" by Bob Seger. Now you knew that. 'Easy Monday' means you really should know this one. "You got a smile so bright, you know you could have been a candle. I'm holding you so tight, you know you could have been a handle..." Clue: Might be one of the longer titles in this genre. It's Easy Monday so that's all you get.

During the course of the weekend running around I think I figured out this 'perpetual motion' thing with the motorbikes. Many streets have a narrow lane for the cycles to drive in. At the corners, this lane curves around the curb without a 'limit line' as is the case in the West. So, if I'm riding in that lane and it goes around the corner (to the left) there is no reason to stop. Oh well, in theory this might be true but in practice there are still way too many near misses for it to hold up. That's how I think the law of perpetual motion evolved.

Sunday we did our Big C adventure and passed out a few more invites to the art show to friends we've made. We also did something new. We bought dinner to go right after lunch so we could stay at home and watch the Formula One race. We always have a dilemma on race weekends when it comes to Sunday dinner. There's the feeding of the dogs at six, the race at seven and the question of eating. It's the one day of the week that we have to feed ourselves and we do a pretty good job of it, usually. Anyway, that's how we solved it this time.

Today I did some wood 'crafting' for the bag project. All I'll say is, 'Back to the drawing board'. This afternoon we got massages that were very intense. I think I'm still getting over the three weeks with no swimming and the two long plane rides. Khun Ploy hit a bunch of painful spots but worked things out as I bit down on a silver bullet. (Ha) Seriously, some of it really hurt but the results are worth it.

We were expecting a 'proof' from the printers in Chiang Mai to see how the catalog would look before they begin their run. After many phone calls and and intervention from our friend Ten, who lives in Chiang Mai, we were told that it would arrive on the 7:30 bus this evening. That's the simple story. There is now more than one bus station here and unless you know exactly what kind of bus, you may end up at the wrong one. Tonight we got to the downtown station and it was almost empty. All the offices were closed and that's when we learned that we needed to go the new station. Boot went with us and people told her things in Thai and I was told to go 'that way'. We went that way and still didn't see anything. After a phone call to a friend, we got our bearings and found two new stations. We'll pick up the package in the morning. The big surprise of the evening was running into Khun Singh at the new station. He was our Tuk-Tuk driver for many months until we got our truck. One of the kindest gentlemen you'd ever want to know. We had a warm reunion with lots of smiling and laughing.

Have the Greatest Week.

Peace,
Danny
