Friendship

Hi,

Today we had blue sky and a messy yard. BamBam and Daku reaped the benefits. Lisa painted, I played with bamboo and mellow was the word for the day.

There were many responses to the song we're playing with. Lane came through with an explanation for the name of our mystery group but you'll have to wait until tomorrow. Here's a bit more, in case you're still working on it: "Heard the singers playin', how we cheered for more. The crowd had rushed together, tryin' to keep warm....And I wonder, still I wonder __ __ __ __." Clue: The song is asking a question that can't be answered. Hmm. They were often referred to by initials.

This morning when the dogs went out we all discovered the front lawn was covered with 'trash' from the giant trees from across the road. The high winds had blown all the dried leaves, branches and seed pods into our yard. To us it was looking like a monumental clean up job. To the dogs it was heaven. So many things to bite and chew. Needless to say, we tried to keep them in the back for most of the day.

Speaking of the dogs, they are really getting along fine together. Daku is now 8 weeks old and is playful, independent, silly, clumsy, smart, and at times a real nuisance for BamBam. Bam is now 11 months old and much too sophisticated to play all the time. Sometimes she just likes to chill and relax. This is impossible with Daku around. He's always ready to play and sometimes he really gets on BamBam's nerves. Yesterday Daku attacked BamBam and she bit him. I was outside and heard this loud crying and I knew what happened. He wasn't hurt, mostly startled. We realized that they were going to have to work this sort of thing out by themselves. We try to explain to Daku that he can't just run up and bite BamBam, and he's gradually getting it. (Ha) It's a dog's world. Oh yeah, Daku is now going up and down the stairs, if he's not too sleepy. He's gotten a bit heavy for carrying.

Lisa worked in her studio today. She's making a new cast acrylic print that's already outstanding. When it's finished, you'll know. She's been working lately on large size formats and things are getting very dramatic.

I spent the afternoon cutting bamboo and bending wire in preparation for the last of the garden barriers. This morning I covered little digging areas that BamBam created by 'nailing' wire mesh over the area with stiff wire. So far it seems to be discouraging both dogs.

Late afternoon, we all hung out in the yard. Boot, Lisa and I watched the dogs as they romped around. These two dogs are fortunate to have a home that's like a park. We see so many dogs who live in the streets. No yard to play in. Hmm, reminds me of a film I saw once (Head Start Training). It was about children who grow up in row houses and only have the street to play in. Their wish was to have a yard. See how the mind can drift from 2009 to 1966 in one sentence and still be relevant? (Ha)

I think it's time for Happy Tuesday.

Peace,
Danny
