Summer

Hi,

The Hot Season is here.  Sunday in Chiang Rai was hotter than in Bangkok.  We are still in a 30 degree spread, but it’s mid 90s to mid 60s.  And the beat goes on.

The ‘Old School Friday’ song was that old favorite, “I Got You (I Feel Good)” by James Brown.  Now we move on to some easy stuff with ‘Easy Monday’.  “__ __ __, __ __ __, __ __ __.  I need to laugh and when the sun is out, I’ve go something I can laugh about.  I feel good, in a special way.  I’m in love and it’s a sunny day.  __ __ __, __ __ __, __ __ __.”  Hint:  1966 by those four lads from across the pond.  Easy.

We spent most of the weekend at the hotel where the convention was being held.  Considering the climate outside, it was just as well.  I had lots to do, people to see and things to learn.  Lisa went on an adventure with Tatt, who is in his last year at Chulalongkorn University.  He came to the hotel and they traveled across town and she got to see the building where he works and his lab.  At the convention, there were 45 countries represented.  At times it felt like the U.N., with all the different languages being spoken.  Many attendees did not speak English, so there were friends in their group that would translate what was going on.  The week before, there was a conference of Asian Pacific countries and many delegates stayed for the convention.  It was hard to remember names, not only because of the volume of people, but the little line on the name-tags was too small.  I couldn’t even discreetly peak (555).
It was a successful weekend and when we got back to Chiang Rai, it felt like we’d been gone for a longer time.

The puppy drama may be over.  It looks like Chopper is staying.  Some of the hard part about raising another baby in the little apartment has been solved.  He lives outside in the pen, with the gate open.  He likes it in there and the nights are warm enough that it’s comfortable.  He is learning some ‘manners’ in certain areas and that helps.  He’s still a baby and likes to play and sleep most of the time.  He gets to come into the kitchen areas at times, and Daku is now a certified baby sitter.  Chopper is also responding to certain commands in Thai.  There is hope.

Today’s photo is called:  “Chopper in the Jungle”

This evening we talked to our friends Claire and Stephen and got a few more details about our trip to Perth, Australia next week.  We’re really putting in some travel miles this year.  After Perth, we have a break and then in June we’ll be traveling to the States for the Summer Visit.

Have a Great Week.

                   Peace,
                             Danny
