Myself

Hi,

Looking at the morning news, we thought we might encounter some rain yesterday.  What?  There were big clouds and all the signs of a storm.  Well, that didn’t happen.  There’s always today, judging from the people on the TV.

Many of you remembered the ‘Easy Monday’ song.  The second verse was very popular and might just help some of you:  “How I’ve waited for this moment, to be by your side.  Your best friend wrote and told me you had tear drops in your eyes.  __ __, your __ __ to stay.”  Clue:  When the singer returns from a journey of a thousand miles, where is he?  If you can hum the ‘Old School Friday’ song, you’re half-way there.

Monday morning we got a jump start on the day.  Waking up at 4am sort of pushes the issue (555).  We were due in La Canada at 11:30am for lunch with Frank and Linda.  Not knowing what the traffic might be like, we gave ourself extra time.  We went to Trader Joe’s in Culver City for snacks to take to our visit in Alhambra in the afternoon with our friend Debby.  The traffic was light and we found the restaurant with time to spare.

Taylor’s Restaurant in La Canada has an ‘Old School’ vibe that reminded me of many places.  Low lighting, deep booths, a bar with golf on one TV and horse racing on the other, and a bartender who remembers everybody, kinda like ‘Cheers’.  They had a roasted turkey dish that was a real treat for us.  We don’t get turkey dinners in Chiang Rai anymore.  We had a great time covering a lot of territory spanning decades of memories along with current events in our lives.

Our second stop of the day was a visit with Debby, a childhood friend of Lisa’s that we see every time we come to the States.  For most of the visit I snoozed while they looked at photos of our life in Chiang Rai.  That meant lots of art photos, and Daku and Neetchanon.

Today’s photo is Lisa’s portion of the ‘In Her Eyes’ art exhibit at ArtBridge Chiang Rai.  I thought you might like to see the work.  She sold two pieces, which is exciting.

Have a Happy Tuesday.

                Peace,
                          Danny
