Cheer

Hi,

Yesterday’s weather in the Culver City area was hot and humid.  Almost like Chiang Rai, but not quite the same flavor.  A little cooler would have been nice.

I got a couple of hits on the ‘Zany Day’ tune.  I think we need another verse to see if this works (555).  “Well outta south Alabama came a country boy, he say ‘I’m lookin’ for a man named __.  I am a pool shootin’ boy, my name is Willie McCoy, but down home they call me Slim.  Yeah, I’m lookin’ for the King of 42nd street, he drivin’ a drop top Cadillac.  Last week he took all my money and it may sound funny but I come to get my money back.  And everybody say ‘Jack, don’t you know?  You don’t tug on Superman’s cape, you don’t spit into the wind, you don’t pull on the mask of that old lone ranger and __ __ __ __ __ __.”  Hint:  Now we know this man is a pool hustler, among other things. He is not to be trifled with.  Hmm.

Our morning exercise came in the form of ‘mall walking’.  We didn’t go there to get a workout, but looking for a few items at Target had us walking back and forth, covering the length of the store several times.

The ‘two meals at the same place’ adventure worked great.  We had lunch with Diane at Treehouse Thai.  It seemed like it was more about conversation than food, but we all felt full by the time it was over.  Dinner at Treehouse with Cousin Martha and two of her three daughters was fun.  Sofia is studying dance and her sister Emmaline is about to begin studies at USC.  They filled us in on their lives and Sofia and Lisa talked dance a lot.  The staff was quite surprised to see us return with a group for dinner.  There were big smiles all around.  They still didn’t get the ‘spicy’ part right on the orders for Lisa and Martha.  They kept telling them ‘Medium Thai’ spicy rather than ‘American’ spicy.  It really is a thing.

Going to a store like Trader Joe’s at rush hour is not always the best thing to do.  Oddly enough, it wasn’t bad inside.  Getting there was half the battle.  One nice thing about fruit shopping here in the States is the way you can buy as many or as few bananas as you want.  In Thailand, you have to buy the bunch.  It might be five, it might be 10, but you have to buy the bunch.  Smart stores, like Macro, have started selling small bunches (3), wrapped in plastic for those of us who don’t want to take home half a tree (555).

Today’s photo was taken in Oakland.  It’s Cat by the Bay.

This morning I’m going to see about a different contact lens approach.  In the afternoon our Godson Darryl is coming to visit with his 3 year old daughter.

Have a Thrilling Thursday.

                      Peace,
                                Danny
