Love

Hi,

I’m back from a weekend of assorted weather.  We’ve gone from bright, clear skies with mild temps, to overcast sky with intense heat.  Saturday night we had a major wind storm followed by a moderate, steady downpour.  Today, Monday, has been mostly clear and hot.  That’s the forecast for the week from semi-reliable sources (555).

The ‘Old School Friday’ song was “Only You” by The Platters.  It’s time, once again, for another episode of ‘Easy Monday’.  “Ooo, la, la, la, la…  I did you wrong, my heart went out to play, but in the game I lost you.  What a price to pay, hey I’m crying.  __ __,__.  __ __, __.”  Hint:  It would be a miracle if everybody knew this.  One ‘word’ in the title isn’t really a word.  Hmm.

We seem to be going to the nursery a lot lately.  Saturday morning we went in search of a pot, only to find that many of the merchants at our local nursery were closed.  There is one place that sells pots of every size and description.  Without them we were lost (555).  Across the road from the big communal nursery is a place that sells pots and yard decorations, also known as statues.  We learned that the proprietor was also the painter of all the little figures.  The fascinating part of this was his image/persona.  The young man clearly spent a lot of time in the gym, having achieved ‘Hulk-like’ proportions, rode a modified monster bike, yet was soft-spoken and painted the most delicate features on the various characters in his menagerie.  We got a beautiful swan that now lives in the back yard.  Below is a grouping of some of his light-hearted ‘Friends’.

The morning after a wind storm is always interesting.  You find things in different places or discover piles of nature that were blown to one area.  The big trees across the road are starting to get new leaves.  The wind blows the old stuff out of the trees and some of it comes to our yard.  All of our trees and bushes are still standing and that’s a relief.

We discovered that today is ‘Labor Day’ in many Southeast Asian countries, Thailand included.  Many stores were closed as well as bank branches.  We went to Big C and it was crowded.  I really enjoy seeing the generational family shopping trips where everybody comes along.  Today, as we were leaving the check-out, a tiny little girl focused on Lisa.  He dad whispered in her ear and she wai’d Lisa.  So amazing that very small children can be taught to do this and it sticks with them their whole life.  It begins before the child even knows what’s going on.  Tiny little hands are put together by loving parents and they lean the baby forward and say the words ‘Sawadee Ca/Cup’ and in time it becomes automatic.  When elders approach or are greeted, this is what you do.

Today’s nature pic was taken this morning in our yard.  Lisa noticed that one of our trees finally has flowers.  It turns out it’s the tree with the hanging yellow flowers that we love so much.  We had almost given up, but here they are.  They’re just starting to bloom.  More photos when the flowers are opened.

Have a Great Week.

                 Peace,
                           Danny
