Doors

Hi,

To say Chiang Mai is hot would be a gross understatement.  Today we missed the heat since we were inside the whole time.

So, a few of you got the song right away.  Let’s take it to the bridge, it might help you remember:  “And __ has stormy eyes that flash at the sound of lies.  And __ has wings to fly above the clouds, above the clouds.  Who’s trippin’ down the streets of the city, smiling at everybody she sees?  Who’s reaching out to capture a moment?  Everyone knows it’s __.”  Hint:  The name in the title is derived from the air that blows through the trees.  Hmm.  Recorded by a six-member group who had me as a groupie back in the day.

Last night I went for a ride in an electric Tuk-Tuk.  The driver just said it was not as stinky, but he should have mentioned that is was also not as noisy.  We took off with nothing but the faint whining sound of the electric motor.    I could feel that it was lighter than the standard Tuk-Tuk by the way it accelerated.  Zoom, want one!

The patient is doing well.  When we checked into the hospital this morning we had a chance to talk to the International Concierge, who we first met when I was a patient there.  Part of his job is teaching English classes and communication skills to members of the staff.  While an admissions rep went over some papers, he sat behind her and listened to her presentation.  It was interesting to hear his critique after she left.  We also learned more about the Bangkok Hospital that’s being built in Chiang Rai.  It’s supposed to be finished at the end of 2018.  It won’t offer some of the specialized services like Chiang Mai, but it will be a great addition to the healthcare options up north.

Today’s photo was taken at the hospital.  Our friend got his phone case hand painted in Bo Sang village.  It cost 100 Baht ($3.00) and only took a few minutes.

Last week the rains were so heavy in Chiang Mai that they had some flooding.  There has also been flooding in Bangkok.  The government is now trying to coordinate the opening of dams in order to relieve the pressure in some areas. The rainy time of the year makes it all worse.

Tomorrow we return to the D2 hotel for one more night in the city.

Have a Happy Tuesday.

                Peace,
                          Danny
