Rainbow

Hi,

Another dry day in old Chiang Rai.  So far, this is working out well for our trip to Chiang Mai, and for the party-ers across the river.  Tonight begins a four night festival of some kind.  Let the music begin.

‘Easy Monday’ wasn’t so easy for some of you.  You forgot this wonderful song.  (that was a clue)  Here’s more:
“I feel like this is the beginning, though I’ve loved you for a million years.  And if I thought our love was ending, I’d find myself drowning in my own tears, whoa, oh oh ah.  __ __ __ __ __ __ __, that’s why I’ll always stay around.  You are the apple of my eye, forever you’ll stay in my heart.”  Hint: He also sings in French.

As we began our morning drive around town to place posters at various locations, we came across the photo for the day.  How often do you see a shopping bag with a photo of The Beatles on it?  Not very often, so here is a special sighting.  Most young people here have never heard of The Beatles.  Hmm.

We had another productive day preparing for the art exhibit.  As the weekend gets closer more things enter the mind.  What about this? and when should we do that?  These things always work themselves out.  We do know that after we drop the rest of the art at the gallery on Thursday, we are free until Friday morning when we hang the show.  Hmm, a free day in Chiang Mai.  I think we can handle it (555).

This evening we went into town to make another poster stop.  Our route took us to what we call ‘Hospital street’, the cross street where the government hospital is located.  We usually only see it in the daytime.  Tonight was an eye-opener.  It had turned into a food village.  Carts with vendors preparing fresh dishes lined the whole block.  There was a festive air about it all, sparking curiosity.  I would speculate that some of the food goes to patients in the hospital, some is for family members who are staying and waiting, and some is for neighborhood locals who stop for dinner every night.  It’s a Thai fast food heaven.  There are several streets like this in Chiang Rai and even more in larger cities.  Amazing Thailand.

When Lisa took her poster into Aye’s Restaurant, Aye and her husband Hans were having dinner.  They were happy to see her and as she left, they gave her flyers for their newest endeavor: Appaloosa Stables.  They have a big ranch north of Chiang Rai and they have started a horse adventure place.  Things like trail riding, events and coaching will be offered.  Hmm, I haven’t been on a horse since 1970.  Oh well.

Here’s to another sunny day tomorrow.  I need to get the van washed for the trip.  One does have standards to maintain (555).

Have a Happy Tuesday.

              Peace,
                        Danny
