Friday Funnies

Hi,

The forecasts are in and it looks like starting Sunday, we're in for 100F and above for at least 7 days.  Today was 93 and it felt like it.

That 'Zany Day' song was "Killer Queen" by Queen.  Now the clues make sense.  Time for another episode of
'Old School Friday'.  This one is from 1965 and you may remember it:  "I don't even know how to love you, just the way you want me to.  But __ __ to learn, __, __ __ to learn, to fall in love, to fall in love, to fall in love with you.  I don't even know how to hold your hand, just to make you understand.  But __ __ to learn, __, ___ to learn to hold your hand, make you understand, to hold your hand right now."  Hint:  It's by a female singer who is telling her 'friend' that she is fully prepared for lessons in romance.

This morning on our way to Makro we passed Art Bridge.  They were carrying the elephants out into the parking lot.  When we left the store and passed Art Bridge, all of the elephants were posing in a big semi-circle.  We made a U-turn and went back for a closer look.  There were 58 beautifully painted elephants standing in the bright sun, waiting for their photo shoot.  A group from Green Wing Honda, sponsors of the project, were taking photos for the catalog and press release.  It gave us a chance to check out some of the creatures we hadn't seen before.  Some truly amazing artistry went into their creation.  There will be a one-evening exhibition on March 20, and then they will be shipped out to various Green Wing dealerships for display.  Today's photo is a panorama of the whole herd.

In the course of our travels we noticed lots of emergency vans, rescue trucks and ambulances roaring down the highway with their sirens going.  In the back of one truck, Lisa noticed some school kids riding along.  We suspect it was some kind of exercise.  The schools have a program where students spend a week during vacation working in hospitals or other community venues.  Since there is a large volunteer emergency network, this may have been an introduction for some students.  They may become Chiang Rai's next generation of first responders.

Since it was Friday, we went to the Farmer's market near the house.  As usual, we found some very fresh vegetables.  There seemed to be a few more vendors this week, though all of them were not selling fresh food, but packaged goods in the form of dried fruit, and products made from organic vegetables.

Our last adventure of the day involved picking Cat up after school and taking her to 'The Kid'.  It's a dance studio that has become a little 'industry', teaching ballet to various ages and also jazz and K-Dance.  The K-Dance is what Cat was interested in so we went to watch a class.  There is a whole subculture that has emerged from Korean Pop Culture.  K-Dance is basically learning group dance routines from famous K-Pop singing groups.  The teacher was great and the class looked fun, so she'll be taking three classes a week for the next two months.  Great exercise for the body and mind.

Have a Wonderful WeekEnd.          Wait for the 'Funnies'.

                   Peace,
                             Danny
