Beauties

Hi,

We had no clouds today, but we had heat.  It was a good day since the 'burners' appeared to have taken the day off.  Even with the heat, the pool is far from ready to entertain swimmers.  Sigh.

There was a very slight response to the 'Zany Day' song.  Hmm, a little 'out there' for the memory banks?
"To avoid complication she never kept the same address, in conversation she spoke just like a baroness.  Met a man from China, went down to Geisha Minah, then again incidentally if you're that way inclined.  Perfume came naturally from Paris, for cars she couldn't care less, fastidious and precise.  She's a __ __, gunpowder, gelatine, dynamite with a laser beam, guaranteed to blow you mind, anytime."  Hint:  The title is not really about what she does, but a description of her zaniness.

This morning we went to the northern edge of the Talat (the big market), and it was like going back in time.  The street we took is the 'depot' for the fish suppliers.  All morning, deliveries come in and the market vendors arrive with carts to pick up their fish for the day.  The smell can be overwhelming on those occasions when we've walked past this area.  A few doors down there is a hotel, which must have been there long before the fish businesses.  There are no zoning restrictions as far as we can tell.  The guests apparently don't mind because the hotel has been in business a long time.  Hmm.

Part of our morning excursion took us down into what I like to call the hospital zone.  The government hospital is the hub, and then there is the new teaching medical center, and next to that is the Thai Traditional medicine center.  We wanted to check out the traditional center to see what they do, but there was no place to park.  We tried to park at the medical center but all of the spaces were for staff.  I'm curious to know what sick people do when they need to visit one of these buildings.  The local answer would be: come on a motorbike.  Oh well, we got a phone number and that will have to do for now.

Tomorrow will be Cat's last day of school as a Junior.  She will have her last final exams and then be off until May.  This term they had two days for testing in eight subjects.  It's a different system than the one I grew up with and I'm not sure how I would do under these circumstances.  Saturday she will go to her village and spend time with her family and her friends at The Sold Project.

While we really don't like the burning, there are times when it provides strange benefits.  Today's photo is one of those times.  Blue took this shot a few days ago and the eerie sun is a result of the smoke in the air.

Have a Thrilling Thursday.

                   Peace,
                             Danny
