Words

Hi,

The hazy air has arrived in Chiang Rai, as if it was on the calendar.  Light breezes keep it from becoming gross.

The way too easy 'Old School Friday' tune was "Ooh, Baby, Baby" by Smokey Robinson and The Miracles.  If that wasn't easy enough, then you'll love 'Easy Monday'.  This song has been a hit many times.  Remember who did it first?
"What you want?  Baby, I got it.  What you need, do you know I got it.  All I'm askin' is for a little __ when you come home, hey baby, when you get home.  Hint:  One word for something that some command and others earn.  Hmm.

Saturday morning, while driving Cat to school, we noticed a 'new restaurant' on the side of the road.  On a stretch of what we now call 'The big road' that goes into town, tables and chairs had been set up, and a portable kitchen was preparing for customers.  I explained how this kind of thing would not happen in most cities in America since there are so many regulations.  Her response was, "Yes, but the food is clean", referring to the sidewalk restaurant.  Oh, the innocence of youth.  We had a good laugh about the whole thing and wondered how long the new place would last.  I have not seen it since Saturday.

On our trip to the frame factory we encountered many large dump-trucks.  Dirt hauling is very big all throughout the area.   We were north of the city, in rice country, but there was a lot of activity taking dirt to other locations and also filling in land on the outskirts of town.  It was nice to see that there are large rice fields still being cultivated.

We were comforted to read that Chiang Rai was not on the latest list of provinces that are in drought mode.  Not that we will abuse the water, but we can keep our flower beds alive.  We noticed that the golf course near us is slowly turning brown.  I would imagine that might have some serious consequences on the roll of the ball.  You golfers can school me on that anytime.

Cat started her physics lessons with The Brain on Saturday afternoon.  Her first comment was, 'It was fun'.  A teacher on a computer instructed her, using a white board and apparently a bit of humor.  She can watch the lesson as many times as she needs to in order to 'get it'.  If there are any big questions she can ask the staff in the office.  More will be revealed as to whether she's really learned a particular lesson.  As long as there is enthusiasm about learning, it's a success.

Sunday night, after dinner at the Night Bazaar, Cat helped Lisa make cookies.  We had fun in the kitchen and the cookies came out great.  It was the first time Cat had made cookies and the first time I didn't have to mix the dough.  Now, where did I put those yummy treats?

Today's photo was taken on the road to town.  This man is obviously into recycling motorbike tires.  Here we see a full load.

Have a Great Week.

              Peace,
                        Danny
