Imagine

Hi,

Today we hid from the heat.  How hot was it?  It was so hot that the dogs didn't want to play this afternoon.

This week's 'Easy Monday' song was "Fixing a Hole" by The Beatles.  Now the clues make sense.  'Zany Day' is next:
"Well here I sit high, gettin' ideas.  Ain't nothin' but a fool would live like this.  Out all night and runnin' wild, woman's sittin' home with a month old child.  __ __, __ __, they oughta take a rope and hang me.  High from the highest tree, woman would you weep for me?  Hint:  This king of the road used a 'slang' term for part of this title.

We had a visit this morning from Johan, our pool Guru.  It seems we (the pool) are consuming more salt than normal and he was concerned.  Salt goes into the water and as the water passes through a sophisticated machine, it is turned into a natural form of chlorine.   The pool got some cracks during the earthquake a few years ago and they have opened again due to the earth settling and the pool shifting.  We sat and discussed the options for repair.  No decision was made today, but something drastic will probably have to happen to end this cycle of leaking.  In the meantime, nothing will be done until the water warms up and we get some swimming in.  (555)

This time of year we get big leaves on the front lawn from the teak trees across the road, then little seeds float from somewhere in the form of translucent disks.  I'm sure it's not like the seasons changing in other places, but we're starting to recognize the progression of it all.  Today's photo shows a very obedient (555) Daku sitting in front of one of the giant leaves that he thinks are 'Doggie Chips'.  Who's a good boy?

This afternoon we had a very nice visit from our friend Tay, who told us about the tutorial schools here in Chiang Rai. She confirmed what we had been told about the need for outside study.  Cat is eager to go to one of the centers to get the help she needs.  Looks like the summer break will be full of studying.

It looks like things have settled down in Bangkok for the time being.  The streets are open and things are returning to normal, whatever that is.  We have friends who have been 'stuck' in their apartments due to the political demonstrations in front of their building.  Another reason to be grateful for this life in Chiang Rai.

It's mango season and that makes me very happy.  Our little mango tree has two tiny little berry-shaped baby mangos that will probably fall off, but at least it's a sign that it's trying.  We are told that it may take a couple of years before we see edible fruit.

It's time for Wacky Wednesday.

             Peace,
                       Danny
