Decide

Hi,

Here in Chiang Rai it rained off and on over the weekend.  There was a party, a car wash, lots of flower planting and a turkey dinner.

Well, 'Old School Friday' drew a blank.  The song was "I'm Leavin' It All Up To You" by Don & Dewey.  You shoulda known.  Maybe 'Easy Monday' is what is needed right now.  "Stayed in bed all morning just to pass the time.  There's something wrong here, there can be no denying.  One of us is changing, or maybe we've just stopped trying.  And __ __ __, baby now __ __ __, though we really did try to make it.  Something inside has died and I can't hide and I just can't fake it..."  Hint:  Time has run out.

By now, if you read or listen to any news, you know that there are simultaneous demonstrations going on in many parts of Thailand.  The largest and most controversial are in Bangkok.  One faction wants the current government to step down.  The other side wants to stop this from happening.  Chiang Rai is basically a small town when it comes to this kind of thing.  Driving around town, one would never know what is happening on Bangkok.  Visitors are arriving daily, probably because it's safer here, so we're not worried.

Saturday evening we went to an annual Christmas party at our friend Eddy's.  We met a few interesting people, had some great food and visited with one of Lisa's cast acrylic prints that hangs in his kitchen.

Sunday morning we went to Chiwit Tamma Da for coffee.  This restaurant/coffee shop is owned and operated by the Swedish/Thai couple and it has a very European ambience.  There are lots of collector items from Sweden and the building feels like you're somewhere else.  It has attracted a wide range of Thais, especially the upscale young.  Fancy coffee drinks and non-Thai pastries make it attractive.  We saw our friends Claire and Stephen, who were having breakfast with a friend who is moving to Aruba.  The place was very crowded since the light rain cancelled the use of the outside tables.  We had fun and will go back next week for brunch.  In the afternoon, Lisa made another fabulous turkey dinner and we visited with Cat.

Today was a get busy day.  Since we bought the van we now have a car that needs a new home.  This is our first time trying to sell a car in this market and it's different.  Dealers generally don't take trade-ins so you have to deal with it yourself.  We visited a car lot with several Vios for sale, just to see what they go for.  We have a prospective buyer who came over this morning and wants to buy the car, if financing is approved.  Meanwhile, our van got quite dirty driving around in the rain and mud, but today it got a bath.  We went to the nursery and got more plants, before the car wash.

This afternoon, after we dropped the van at the car wash, we went to Work@Home for coffee.  We were told that Jonathan, the resident English Retriever isn't doing well and was at the vets.  He's 11 and that is old for a dog of his breed and size.  Everyone in the place was a little down about it, fearing that he may not come home.  He has been a fixture there since he was a puppy so he's like a member of the family.  We hope for the best.

Today's photo is from our visit with Taeyo and Jaiyah.  You can see how they have really grown.  They are also quite used to having their pictures taken.

Have a Great Week.

                Peace,
                          Danny
