Kindness

Hi,

It's the same old weather pattern here in Chiang Rai.  You really never know what will happen until it does.  There was adventure on Saturday and relaxing on Sunday, with a lot of tennis and Formula One throughout.

The 'Old School Friday' song was "Wooly Bully" by Sam The Sham & The Pharaohs.  Oh well, it's 'Easy Monday' so you have a chance at knowing this one:  "Stayed in bed all morning just to pass the time.  There's something wrong here, there can be no denying.  One of us is changing, or maybe we've stopped trying.  And it's __ __, baby, now it's __ __..."
Clue:  This one's right on time.

Saturday afternoon we went to Central Plaza for the opening of a photographic art exhibit that begins a series of exhibits in different parts of town.  This one actually included four photographers that we know.  We arrived a little before the time we'd been given, only to find out that it would be about an hour later before things got rolling.  It gave us a chance to preview the work, talk with friends we hadn't seen since before our trip, and have lively discussions about public art exhibitions.  The way the work was displayed in the department store was very tasteful.  When the time finally came to open the show there was an MC who introduced each artist by reading a bio, and then words from Khun Jaffee, the curator/artist, and finally the Minister of Tourism.  I have no idea what anyone said, except that the art of Chiang Rai was something for tourists to see.  By the time the ribbon was cut there was a large crowd of guests and onlookers.

After most of the conversations and visiting had died down we went into the mall and had dinner and then went by the DTAC shop.  DTAC is Lisa's phone provider and they keep sending her text messages from 'Happy'.  The messages are in Thai and since she can't read them she wants them to stop sending them.  They come at least three times a day and it's some kind of automatic thing telling her the balance on her account.  It's very annoying but they can't seem to turn it off.  We tried again and still they come.  As we were leaving the Plaza I just had to take a picture of the lights at night:

The lights change colors.  We love the purple

Sunday we stayed at home all day.  There was the French Open, Formula One qualifying, and World Cup Women's Volleyball to keep up with as well as swimming and the usual.  It was a very restful day.

During our visits to Big C and Central Plaza I kept seeing these small scale guitars that had me intrigued.  Today we were back at the Plaza and I spent some time looking closer.  They weren't made very well so we decided to go to the main guitar shop on Bus Station street.  I ended up getting a beautiful, slightly smaller than standard classical guitar.  I haven't had a nylon string guitar in years and I missed the warm sound.  Maybe I'll get inspired.  It already sings in a different voice, and that means new ideas will be keeping me up at night.  Can't wait.

Have a Great Week.

                       Peace,
                                  Danny
