Friday Funnies

Hi,

It was another postcard day here in Chiang Rai. Blue sky with some fluffy white clouds. Did I just say 'fluffy'? Repairs were made and we braved downtown on a Friday afternoon.

It was bound to happen. It was just a matter of time before things broke down and you didn't know what I was talking about. I think the 'no Google' may have set a few of you back. (Ha) Leveled the playing field. The song was "Nature Boy". The artist was Nat 'King' Cole and the film was The Boy With Green Hair. This is a classic recording of the tune and the film will blow your mind. I'll let you read about it and maybe we can find it online.

For the weekend, everyone gets a break from the taskmaster. This song has probably been covered at least a
thousand times. Oh, it's about dancing or something: "Naaa, na na na naaa, na na na naaa na na na na na naaa, na na na naaa..." Hint: Ha, you expect a hint after all that info? Another song where the title is not in the lyric.

We have a new repair guy now. He's the same man who fixed our sink problem. Boot interrogated him and found out he can do lots of things. Today he fixed the front gate and did the heroic deed of climbing up into the roof to check on 'The Thing'. Of course, he found nothing. He also found that we hadn't lost a roof tile, it was probably a left over piece that blew off in the high winds. We slept downstairs last night because the noise was too creepy. That was a bit of an adventure for the dogs. They've wandered into the guest room, but never hung out there. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't our room. Tonight we'll start off upstairs again and see what unfolds.

On Fridays the traffic starts to pick up steam a little after 3pm. We were down on the main drag and it was really getting busy. On our way home we saw what may have been a major contributor. There is a large Wat (temple) in the north east part of town. We passed in front of it and discovered it was the staging area for a big parade. There were at least 75 to 100 women dressed in traditional Thai suits, all shades of lavendar. There were three floats that we saw, and a couple of drum-corps units. We don't know the occasion for the celebration, but it was a big deal. The crosstown traffic going in the direction of the wat was bumper-to-bumper and not moving much. If I can find out what it was, I will let you know.

Here's a bit of information you can drop at your next dull gathering: The hardware stores in Chiang Rai are all run by women. There are men who work there, but the bosses are women and the sales people are women. Very interesting.

And finally, a Daku story. We got up at the usual time this morning and BamBam was outside and Daku was in the kitchen. Lisa entered the kitchen and Daku did his usual 'I'm so hungry/Good morning dance' around her feet. She prepared his breakfast and as he was gobbling it down, she realized that he and BamBam had already had breakfast. Two meals in fifteen minutes? No problem. Needless to say, he got small lunch.

Have a Fantastic WeekEnd. It's time for the 'Funnies'.

Peace,
Danny

You know how most packages say "Open here". What is the protocol if the package says, "Open somewhere else"?

Why are they called buildings, when they're already finished? Shouldn't they be called builts?

Why are they called apartments, when they're all stuck together?

Why do people without a watch look at their wrist when you ask them what time it is?

If at first you do succeed, try not to look astonished.
