Mistakes

Hi,
Well, today we leave the big city. Today we stuff the bags, hug the kids and take to the air. Today we collect memories and shoes.
What a surprise to get so much mail on the first day of a song. Now I know an era to pick from when you need an easy one. Or maybe it's an age thing. Not sayin' old, rather, young. Sometimes I get email from one of you stating that you couldn't have known a song, you weren't even born yet. I understand, but I don't care. Turn on K-Erth or something. (Ha) Here's the chorus of the song:
"Oh, it's __ __ , __ __ lady. Gotta run for shelter Gotta run for shade (repeat) Clue: Apply the same hint from yesterday. It's by a gang you wouldn't mind having in your hood.
Last night we had an early birthday party for C-Bass. He won't be 14 until the 29th, but we couldn't leave without celebrating. August, Lisa, and I decorated a store-bought cake and after a light dinner we partied. It was rather timely considering that today C-Bass has to go to his new school for orientation. For better or worse, he'll miss our leaving. The whole notion of us living in Thailand has become less dramatic for him. He's even learning to cook Asian dishes and has insisted on taking Japanese at school.
Right now, August is here visiting. Anna just brought him his breakfast. She stayed for a while and we talked about the little apartment being like a bed and breakfast. Anna has a real 'touch' when it comes to arranging things, whether it's living space or hair.
Mr. August is usually the first one up, but this morning he slept in (too much party last night). Jeff told us it was a great opportunity for him to 'claim' the TV and watch the news. Oh, yesterday Mr. August wired his big speakers to the TV and a couple of microphones. Last night, at one point, Lisa and Jeff were talking through the mic and it was hilarious. This morning August wanted to turn on the speakers and promised to set them low. Jeff asked him what would be the point? He left them off.
So, I know I haven't called a lot of people, even though we're in the same time zone. Each trip will be an exercise in refinement of behavior. I will promise to do better, miss a few calls, make plans to visit, cancel a few dinners and on and on. I will continue to write and let you know if I think I'm doing better or worse.
Leaving Los Angeles again, doesn't make me sad. It's leaving our friends that is a little sad, but it's softened by the knowledge that we'll be back soon.
Have a Cool Day.

Peace,
Danny
