Clever

Hi,

Chiang Rai had another hot day.  It began with a deceptive coolness but by lunchtime, it was blazing hot.  Rainy season with no rain.  Maybe every day next week, they say.  Actually, we had a small rain this evening.

The ‘Easy Monday’ song is still waiting for you to send in your answer.  “Got to keep this secret, can’t take no chance, don’t want nobody else to know.  There is nothing wrong with tryin’ to start a romance, but we should take it rather slow.  If we play it cool, it’ll be all right, don’t let the teacher see us talking.  But after school we’ll be out of sight, everybody gonna think we’re just out walkin’.  She said, hey…. only a __ __ __.”  Clue:  What is it called when young boys say they’re in love?  This band was the opposite of their name.

This was a very productive day.  There were trips to make that were all important, and we got them all done.  It began with a ride over to the immigration office on the other side of town.  We didn’t even have to go inside.  The department has set things up so everyone waits outside in spaced chairs and you only go in for specific counter business.  Since we just needed forms, one of our friends who helps us, pulled the forms and we were on our way.  The next stop was the bank, which is on the Super Highway.  I waited in the parking lot while Lisa got the documents we needed.  These first two stops were the last things we needed for our visa renewal tomorrow.

The last stop of the morning was Central Plaza Mall.  We got there too early, so we sat in Starbuck’s and relaxed over coffee and a muffin for about 40 minutes.  It was a good thing.  Once the mall opened, it was Apple Service Center and the printing center for our final tasks.  Lisa’s laptop needs a new battery and we had to get small photos for the visa application.  Both places required that we wait, which we managed by me sitting in a massage chair (without the vibration) and Lisa doing some other errands.  We got home for lunch at 12:30pm, only an hour later than normal.  The real trick is not to walk too fast or too far at a time.  I’m getting better.

Today’s photo was taken this morning near our house.  It’s a newly planted field of pineapple.

In many families, everything is shared.  Not just food and clothing, but ‘business’ as well.  It spills over into the workplace and it becomes another wing of ones family.  Lisa had an appointment with her neurologist this afternoon at Bangkok Hospital and she knew all about my stay at Overbrook Hospital.  Forget about keeping secrets at the healing house.  They all know everything.  Lisa did learn that my doctor, Dr. Watana, is a professor and the top cardiologist in town.  Life in the city, that used to be a village before it was a town.

Have a Happy Tuesday.

                           Peace,
                                     Danny
