The weekend weather was something like this: A few drizzles, a giant downpour, some sprinkles, and some sunshine.
The ‘Old School Friday’ song from last week was “When Doves Cry” by Prince. New week, new artist, new/old songs. Time for ‘Easy Monday’: “You know that it would be untrue, you know that I would be a liar, if I was to say to you, girl we couldn’t get much higher. Come on baby, __ __ __, come on baby, __ __ __. Try to set the night on fire.”

The big news at this moment is all about the puppy. We got another photo and a short video of both ‘candidates’ and we have picked our Jai Dee. He’s got that baby polar bear, cuteness and he focused on the camera. I like that he’s alert. They will update us every Monday with pics until we pick him up on Sept. 8. Now, who’s going to sleep tonight? (555)

Today, August 19, is our 49th anniversary of living life together. It’s been quite a ride and I can’t imagine having things any other way. I never imagined that we’d end up enjoying this chapter in a new country with a second community of friends and more family, but it’s real. Feeling very Grateful.
Yesterday we went to The Riverie Resort for dinner. When the doorman greeted us, we didn’t think anything of it, just the usual warmth we’ve come to expect. After dinner, as we were leaving, he asked if we’d like a ride to our van. 'Of course' and 'why not’ came to mind and we got into the cart. Here’s where it gets strange, he took us right to our van without any direction from us. How did he know?
This morning we did the BKK Hospital run and then stopped at ArtBridge to pick up one of Lisa’s pieces that had been on display at the mall. We decided to have coffee there and it was a very mellow experience. They put us at a table by the river and the setting plus our iced drinks was perfect.
This afternoon we went to the bus station and picked up our friend Sherman, who arrived from Chiang Mai. I have known him for years, before we moved here and he’s been living in Thailand for quite a few years. After a long mid-day bus ride, we went to The Wanderer (where else?) for a snack and to pick up some custom baked bread. It felt strange to have iced Jasmine tea in the afternoon at The Wanderer. We getting used to not having coffee in the afternoon. What? I might have gone right to sleep tonight but that puppy, oh well.
Sherman and I hung out on our balcony for a long time, talking about lots of things and then it was time to relax. Later we went to the Night Bazaar for dinner and some light shopping/browsing. This is his first visit to Chiang Rai and he was impressed that at 6:30pm there was very little traffic on the street. He’s used to Bangkok and Chiang Mai, where there is always traffic. That’s one reason why we live here.
Tomorrow will be a tourist day, sight-seeing and such.
Have a Great Week.
Peace,
Danny
