Moment

Hi,

The Chiang Rai weather is blah, blah, blah, the same.  A little cooler this morning, but it didn't last long.  Had a great day anyway.

The 'Easy Monday' song was "We Can Work It Out", by The Beatles.  There is also a very cool version by Stevie Wonder.  Now it's time for that 'Zany Day' song.  Some songs have background parts that are as much a part of the song as the lyrics.  Here is a perfect example:  "Sha na na na, sha na na na na (phrase is repeated 3 more times), yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip, mum mum mum mum mum mum __ __ __ Sha na na na, sha na na na na.  Every morning about this time she get me out of my bed a-crying __ __ __. After breakfast everyday she throws the ads my way and never fails to say, __ __ __.  (repeat beginning backgrounds).  Hint:  Three little words he really doesn't want to hear.

This morning I took the van to the Suzuki dealer for our 6 month servicing.  We've had it a little over a year and couldn't be happier.  I was the first customer of the day so the van got lots of attention.  There seems to be a strange obsession with paperwork.  Before they began work I had to sign the work order.  When the van was done I sat at a desk and was told all the things they did.  Then I had to sign on three lines.  At the cashiers desk I was ask to sign the bottom of the bill.  She had two carbon copies of that document.  The concept of saving paper has not reached Thailand.  At one home supply store there are three copies of the receipt, all with numerous stamps in addition to stapling.  Hmm.

Since there was no school today, Cat had a plan to meet a new friend at the mall and see a movie.  We thought the mall opened at 11am, but apparently, since it was a holiday, they opened at 10am.  We went with Cat to buy her ticket.  When we got upstairs we were met with a crowd of mostly teenagers, plus a game arcade.  We stood in line, watched as Cat got introduced to a new ticket system, stood in another line and then told her she could handle the rest.  It was crazy up there.  She enjoyed the movie and felt good that she had done it, even though she missed her friend.  The price of a movie at the mall: $5.50.

Judging by the traffic, a lot of people were off work today.  When one considers all the government offices, banks, and schools, it adds up.  I did notice that the morning traffic on our street was lighter than usual.  The two things talked about the most here in Chiang Rai are probably weather and traffic.

Tomorrow we will, once again, go to the motor vehicle department.  This time we will get it done.  We're going to Chiang Mai on Saturday and we want to have everything in order before going on the road.  Of course, there will be pie (555).

Today's photo was taken by Blue at the Dusit Island Resort on the bank of the Kok River on Sunday evening.

Time for Wacky Wednesday,

                    Peace,
                              Danny
