Change

Hi,

We had another gorgeous day here in Chiang Rai. It rained overnight, but stayed sunny all day. We ran some errands in the morning and went to Wat Rong Khun in the afternoon.

For some, this 'Easy Monday' song was a breeze. Not unlike the breeze on the beach that's mentioned in the song.
"When she walks, she's like a samba that swings so cool and sways so gently that when she passes, each one she passes goes aah." Hint: Really? You need a hint? OK, it's the tune that put the Bossa Nova on the international map. The original artists are a woman with a silky voice and a tenor sax player.

Both of our utility bills came yesterday so today we went to 7-11 and paid them. From there we went on a search to see if anyone had a cover for our new pump. We're not sure if it needs one, but it seems like a good idea. At the pet supply store we got another reminder of the the use, or non use, of the 'L' sound at the end of a word. We wanted to see a bag of Royal Canine dog food so we could see the ingredients. The man at the store said 'Royun' instead of 'Royal' and we had to add that to the list of words that make us smile. At Work@Home bakery we got a chance to see our friend Jonathan again. He walked by me and nudged me with his nose as he made his way to the sidewalk. He's 8 years old and very mellow.

After lunch we drove south on the highway to Wat Rong Khun where we were to meet with Noy, Susan and Chalermchi, the artist who built the amazing 'White Temple'. We sat in an open coffee shop for an hour, just hanging out with Chalermchi. He looked at Lisa's prints on the iPad and at times got very animated. Noy, Susan and I had our own little conversation while the artists discussed each piece as well as the process. Chalermchi told us about his beginnings as an artist, and how he was soundly criticized for breaking away from traditional methods. It was a wonderful, intimate time and we are grateful for the opportunity. I asked him about one of the buildings in progress on the grounds, and he explained that it would be three stories high. The first is for lectures and teaching, the second will be a library for study, and the third for meditation. He said one would learn the basics on the first floor, study the concepts of Buddhist religion on the second, and meet the soul on the third floor. Then he laughed.

When we got back home Lisa commented on how this has been quite a month of meeting new, interesting people. We are definitely enjoying our Adventures in Thailand.

Have a Happy Tuesday.

Peace,
Danny
