Friday Funnies

Hi,

The weather today was so much like yesterday that, well, it would seem silly to repeat myself again (555).

The ‘Jazzy Wednesday’ tune was “I Wish You Love” by Gloria Lynne.  Many other singers have recorded this song but this one has been very popular for many decades.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Tgh5BOTCuM
Now we flash back for an ‘Old School Friday Holiday Jam’:  “Just hear those sleigh bells jingling, ring tingle tingling too.  Come on, its lovely weather for a __ __ together with you.  Outside the snow is falling and friends are calling ‘Yoo Hoo’, come on, its lovely weather for a __ __ together with you.”  Hint:  This could have been a great ‘Easy Monday tune (555).  Even if you don’t have snow, it has a spirit to it.

This morning it was cold.  We knew it would warm up, but the cold air and a forecast for rain made it seem like we might not get there.  While we were hanging out, a delivery bike arrived at the gate.  He was from Lazada, an online shopping megastore for Southeast Asia.  We had ordered a couple of fitness watches and they were here.  That became our project for the day.  They’re made by Xiaomi Studios and are a rival of Fitbit.  It’s been a day and so far so good.  I’m mainly in it for the step counter and the heart rate monitor.  Oh, and the sleep monitor as well.  Before you know it, I’ll be aware of too much of me (555).

We took JaiDee to The Wanderer for ice this morning.  We tagged along for coffee and roti.  Mercy was there with her mom Khwan.  JaiDee and Mercy haven’t had a chance to see each other for a long time, so this was kinda special.  They managed to tangle their leashes on the path inside, but later, Mercy found us and they roamed around the big room we were in.  Another five minutes and she might have taken him down the path to the river.

Here’s a photo of JaiDee and Mercy during a playdate at our house a few months ago.

After coffee we drove into town.  JaiDee sits in the middle of the back seat with his safety belt on, and watches where we’re going with great interest.  If we pass a dog, he keeps his eyes on it until it’s out of sight.  First we stopped at Khun Orn, the seamstress, and then by the bank.  It was a big travel day in the life of JaiDee.

Yesterday evening my new passport arrived in the mail.  The U.S. Embassy did a great job of getting it to me quickly.  We thought it would take longer since they wanted no in-person business.  This afternoon we went to Thai immigration so they could put all the stamps and my visa into the new ‘book’.  The place was totally empty so it went quickly.

At Makro it was a different story.  People were doing their weekend shopping and the place was really busy.  I noticed today that the guard by the door brings your attention to the screen that shows you with either green or red boxes around your face and hands, showing your temperature as pass or fail.  A nice touch.

Talking with Cat last night, we learned that the Farm Festival was last weekend.  Totally went by me.  Because of concerns over the women who were traveling around the region carrying the virus, one of the larger hospitals in the area is offering covid testing for those who attended the concerts.  That’s what I call community cooperation.  The Public Health Ministry has ruled out the need for a provincial-wide lock down since testing has revealed no new cases.  It is still possible that positives could come up since it hasn’t been that long.  Oh well, for now we just stay cautious and do what we know.

Have a Wonderful WeekEnd.    Time for another dose of ‘Holiday Funnies’.

                            Peace,
                                      Danny
