Beauty

Hi,

The weather in Chiang Rai is being a little strange.  It decided that it was too early for the ‘cold season’ so it’s warming up a bit.  Talk about powerless.

It’s day two of ‘Jazzy Wednesday’ and more of this wonderful song from 1964 (most notably).  Tomorrow you can listen.  “And in July a lemonade to cool you in some leafy glade, I wish you health and more than wealth, __ __ __ __.  My breaking heart and I agree that you and I could never be, so with my best, my very best, I set you free.  I wish you shelter from the storm, a cozy fire to keep you warm.  But most of all when snowflakes fall __ __ __ __.”
Clue:  It was originally in French (like that’s gonna help).  There is a key word in the first line.  More than just good luck.

This morning Mr. JaiDee, man about town, got all excited as we prepared to leave the house.  He thought we were going to one of his spots so he could see his people.  We were actually headed for the vet.  After a ten minute wait that was too long for JaiDee, the doctor came in.  The exam of his toes took about half the time and he was declared ‘no problem’.  That’s a relief for all of us.  The itchy face thing didn’t happen this morning so it was a non issue.  We sat in the waiting room for what seemed like 10 minutes, waiting for the receptionist to call us up to pay. Finally I approached the counter and the doctor waved me off saying, “no bill”.  A good day at the vet’s.

Some streets can be traveled for weeks at a time and everything is the same.  Then one day something jumps out and says, ‘I wasn’t here last time’.  That’s what happened this morning on the way to Dr. Arnon’s.  It was a giant bag sale.  I notice things like this, I love bags.  I have, through serious exercises in self-control and deep meditation, learned to resist such events (555).  Doesn’t mean I don’t still drool (555).  Behold, every kind of bag you could imagine, right there on the street.

According to a local English language newspaper, more has been learned about one woman who entered the country and proceeded to travel around, even though she was sick.  She is now in a hospital in Chiang Mai, and authorities have published a time-line of her movements in an effort to help citizens trace their possible contact with her.  The whole thing has people on edge.  Not everyone, of course, but enough that you can sense a bit of paranoia in certain stores, etc.  Our friend Dr. Nan, who is an orthodontist, posted that she would be closing her clinic.  Not a good sign.

There has been more technology appearing on the scene since body temperature has become a ‘thing’.  At Makro they have a thermal camera that projects onto a big screen and shows you and your temperature.  At Little C they have a thermometer that take the temp of the palm of your hand.  You walk up, hold your hand up and it displays your temp.  These devices also let everyone around see your temp as well.  No way to hide it if you’re sick.

Have a Thrilling Thursday.    Please take care of yourself.  You know the drill:  Mask, wash, distance.

                          Peace,
                                    Danny

interpret beauty to people - the beauty
within themselves.”
