The weather for Chiang Rai was beautiful. We started with a cool morning that quickly became a typically warm day. It looks like that will be the pattern for the next week and a half.
This week’s ‘Jazzy Wednesday’ tune seems to have stumped all but one of you, so far. Here’s a little more:
“My! It’s nice to simply sit and rest awhile, now I know it’s a shame, I can’t think of your name, I remember your smile. I don’t ordinarily drink with strangers, I most usually drink alone. You were so awfully nice to me, and I’m so terribly far from home… I’m such a fool! He’s just a guy who’s stopped to buy me __ __!” Clue: A tall, icy beverage might be called __ __.
Our morning adventure found us back at The Wanderer, minus JaiDee, for coffee and conversation with our dear friend Sutheera. As much as we tried, the conversation kept creeping back to U.S. politics. We would change the subject and talk about Thai politics, school business, Loy Krathong, dogs and more, but still we drifted back to various parts of the election. At one of our digressions we had our phones out, looking to see if there was a change. All in all, it was a very enjoyable time and we did find room for laughter and relevant personal news.
Today’s photo was snapped while we were having coffee. Outside of ‘The Glass House’ there is cluster of coffee plants that are starting to bear fruit. Some of them are over 6 feet tall.
Tonight, as with last night, it is absolutely quiet outside. It’s almost eerie, but not unwanted. Walking JaiDee was much more pleasant without the tension of not knowing when the next explosion from firecrackers would go off. The music we were listening to while walking could be heard clearly.
In the ‘things I forgot to tell you’ department: Two days after the opening of the art exhibit in Bangkok, there was another major demonstration at that location. Timing is everything.
Have a Thrilling Thursday. Don’t forget to protect yourself and others. Wear that mask!
Peace,
Danny
