Slowly

Hi,

The day began with clouds, leading us to believe that we might get some rain.  Wrong again.  The clouds burned off for most of the day and it was business as usual.  It has gone from ‘A little rain would be nice’ to ‘We really need some rain right now’.

The ‘Easy Monday’ song has been around these pages for a long time.  A few of you remembered.  Here’s more:
“Wonder this time where she’s gone.  Wonder if she’s gone to stay.  __ __ __ when she’s gone, and this house just ain’t no home anytime she goes away.  And I know, I know, I know…… Hey, I oughta leave the young thing alone.  But __ __ __ when she’s gone.”  Clue:  What happens when the sky is totally cloudy?

Two nights ago we realized that there is one stretch of the path on our walk, where JaiDee is a real handful.  He pulls and loses concentration.  In this section there are leaves on the path and they are like magnets.  He feels he has to either inspect or bite every one.  For the last two nights we have altered our route and it’s much better for all involved.  As far as him sleeping longer due to the walks, well, it was a fluke and he’s back to the 5am wide awake thing.  Last night he woke up at 4am and Lisa sat with him until he dozed off, only to wake up at 5.  Hmm.

This morning we went to The Wanderer for coffee, roti, and ice.  Kwan and Mercy came to visit and the dogs started doing their play dance.  Lisa let JaiDee off his leash, thinking they would stay near us.  Today, JaiDee played a little and then took off like a rocket, around one of the paths with Lisa and Mercy close behind.  He ran into the big glass room and his escape was stifled.  Kwan told us that Mercy has taken on the role of big sister, after watching over the puppy Joey.  For the time being, our resident sprinter will remain on his leash when out on the town.

Chiang Rai is seeing an influx of visitors as a result of the opening of the Cave Exhibit north of town.  The cave where the 13 boys and their coach were trapped has been renovated and made accessible and now the tourists are coming.  There is also a Spirit House and a ‘Museum’, so I guess there is plenty to see.  We’ve been seeing caravans of tour vans and big buses, and that’s probably where a lot of them are going.  It’s good for the area, especially if they stay overnight and shop at local businesses.

One of our latest tools in the calming of the beast is music.  There are tons of music clips on Youtube billed as calming and relaxing for dogs.  It takes some review to find the right one, and last night we thought we’d found one, then a commercial jumped in and the mood was broken.  Youtube is becoming relentless with the money thing.  Oh well, Natcha had the best idea the other day.  She played a baby lullaby for JaiDee and he seemed to like it.

Have a Happy Tuesday.

                   Peace,
                             Danny

do not stop.”
