Friday Funnies

Hi,

This morning I saw a 5” TV, a cassette player, and newspaper clippings featuring my mother that I’d never seen.  Oh, the rewards of ‘Garage Diving’ (555).

This week’s ‘Zany Day’ song was “Telephone Man” by Meri Wilson.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9s8lf5VG8F4
‘Old School Friday’ will hopefully be much easier.  “Deep down in Louisiana close to New Orleans, way back up in the woods among the evergreens, there stood a cabin made of earth and wood, where lived a country boy named __ __ __.  Who never ever learned to read or write so well, but he could play a guitar just like a-ringin’ a bell.  Go, go, go __ go, go, go __ go…. __ __ __.”  Hint:  It’s someone’s name (first, middle initial and last).  By one of R&Rs founding fathers.

Thursday was another early drive to Altadena.  The payoff was major progress.  The garage is completely empty.  The guy we hired came with his stake-sided truck and a helper.  After looking at the job, he left to get a bigger truck.  They worked very hard and filled the bigger truck.  He also called a friend to take away some metal items.  We are very happy with the way they left the place too.  They swept the floor and cleaned up the driveway.  Just a few more odds and ends and we’ll be done before we have to leave town.  Yea.

I went down to The Hat to pick up lunch.  This time I ordered one sandwich for Lisa and me to share.  The folks behind the counter have gotten used to our turkey sandwich orders and today one women commented, ‘Only one today?’.  We all laughed since we started out last week ordering eight.

One of our many tasks is turning off various utilities and services.  When we called AT&T to cancel my mom’s cellphone account, they wanted a document proving that she was in the convalescent home.  What?  I explained that she’d had a stroke but they wanted proof.  Very strange.

In the early afternoon we went to The Californian, where my mom is and Lisa went to see her while I talked to the staff about getting ‘the document’.  The last time we visited she didn’t look so good and it was painful to see.  This time she was doing better.  There seemed to be a response from having her hand held.  We left with smiling faces.  When we first went into the room, her room mate was not there.  When she returned we could hear her telling her friend about my mother, that she was the first Black elementary school principle in Pasadena and how she had so many people coming to see her.

Today’s photo is another from the ‘Countryside Serenity’ series that I seem to be collecting.  This is part of Boon Rawd Farms taken from the hillside restaurant.

I think when we get back to Thailand we will need a vacation with several massages and some home-cooked food.  A bowl of Mango Pie would also be a nice distraction (555).

Have a Wonderful WeekEnd.    Hang on for the ‘Funnies’ and Formula One from Canada on Sunday.  Zoom.

                Peace,
                          Danny
