Hi,

There are many different kinds of ‘cold’.  We experienced two of them in as many days.  The cold in the San Jose/Palo Alto area was much more dramatic than the cold in Southern California.  Up north it was that ‘bite your face’ kind of cold.  There was ice on the car window on Wednesday morning.  This, I do not like.  

A few readers knew the song.  It was recorded by one of the oldest bands in R&R.  It’s OK if you don’t know.

“I shouted ‘who killed the Kennedys?’ when after all it was you and me… Pleased to meet you, hope you guessed my name…”  Clue:  The song is an historical overview from the perspective of the perpetrator of evil deeds.

The northern portion of our trip was a huge success.  We spent Wednesday morning with Joe.  Breakfast, a visit to his studio, a trip to the Stanford museum of art, and then lunch.  Good times with a great guy.  

We have been doing these ‘visits’ for 8 years.  There is one constant that we can depend on:  evening flights from San Jose to L.A. will be late in departing.  The planes have to come from another city, unload their passengers and then load the folks going to L.A.  For some reason, the plane is always late getting to San Jose.  Just one of those things I guess.

Riding around in Palo Alto was a very stark contrast to Chiang Rai, or even Culver City for that matter.  Strictly enforced laws, and lots of signs letting you know what will happen if you disobey.  Hmm, it certainly gets one’s attention.  We saw a ‘Google Car’, the one with the camera on the roof.  Sometimes you have to go for the cheap thrills (555).

Today’s photo was taken at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok.  There are always amazing floral displays throughout the facility and this is a flower wall.
