Think

Hi,

It was a beautiful day in Chiang Rai.  The day began with fog in the early morning, followed by that hot sunshine we've come to know so well.  Somewhere in the area it rained.  There was a breeze, and thunder in the distance.  We stayed dry.

I'm curious to know if any of you can relate to the lyrics of the 'Zany Day' song.  The last verse brought back memories.  "Don't you give me no dirty looks.  Your father's hip; he knows what cooks.  Just tell your hoodlum friends outside, you ain't got time to take a ride.  __ __ (don't talk back)."  Hint:  The title is two words that might translate to 'blah blah' in modern English.  (555)

We spent the day behind the walls.  It was nice to have a day where there was no place to be, except at home.  After the morning dog play we did some garden appreciation.  I wish there was a way to transmit the aroma that fills the air  as a result of our flowering friends.  There is the familiar scent of the gardenia, mixed with jasmine, plumeria and a tree whose name we don't know, but smells incredible.  Daku walks around with his nose in the air, taking it all in.

Today's photo is from one of our gardens.  The little yellow flowers are Thai gardenias.  Yum.

Boot called us this morning after arriving in Rayong.  It's a 12 hour bus ride, but she was excited to see her sister and cousins.  Even though they talk almost every day, there's nothing like being there.

This evening we met our friends Stephan and Claire for dinner at 'Melt In Your Mouth'.  It's a fairly new place that we'd heard about.  When one thinks about location, a river view in a quiet neighborhood makes the perfect setting.  Never mind what it takes to get there.  'Melt' gives directions that basically tell you to follow the signs through the neighborhood.  Hmm, it works so I guess that's all that matters.  We had a fun time catching up, as always and the food was good.  They had just finished a 50k bike ride, but you couldn't tell.  There's always so much to talk about and share.  I mentioned to Stephan that I had seen a horse trailer on the Super Highway from "Appaloosa Farms" and he told me about a horse ranch he saw in the middle of the countryside, far from town.  He was on a bike ride when he discovered it.  Does this mean I'm getting a bike so I can explore?  Not at all.  I'll wait to hear the stories.  There are bike tours that come to Chiang Rai and stay in the hotel he manages.  Some arrive with their bikes and others ride from other cities.  One group is riding from the south of Thailand all the way to Chiang Rai.  Hmm.

And finally, today one of the headlines in the Bangkok Post was the announcement of the resignation of the L.A. Lakers coach.  Keeping up with 'world news', one headline at a time.

Have a Thrilling Thursday.

                    Peace,
                              Danny
