See

Hi,

The new word of the day in Chiang Rai is: HOT.  We still have cool mornings, but the days are very hot.  Tomorrow is supposed to be even hotter.  We know what to do in cases like this: Hide.

The "Old School Friday" song was "On Broadway", with the first hit of the song recorded by The Drifters.  'Easy Monday' is next, with a song by a family ensemble.  "Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk, I'm a woman's man; no time to talk.  Music loud and women warm, I've been kicked around since I was born.  And now it's all right.  It's OK.  And you may look the other way.  We can try to understand the New York Time's effect on man.  Whether you're a brother or whether you're a mother, you're __ __, __ __.  Feel the city breakin' and everybody shakin', and we're __ __, __ __..."  Hint:  This was the opening song in a very successful movie in 1977.

Saturday morning Cat went to Chiang Kong with her family.  They went across the new Friendship bridge into Laos and did some shopping.  That evening she met her friend Fern at Walking Street and then Fern came home with her. This was Cat's first 'sleepover'.  Fern had her brand new graphic stylus for computer art and was anxious to try it out.  The only problem was the instructions.  They were in English, Chinese, and Japanese, but there was nothing in Thai, so I helped her get started.

Sunday was a fun day.  We went to Central Plaza with Cat and Fern, where we had lunch and looked around.  In the evening we went to the violin/viola concert.  The violinist is from Russia and travels to Thailand a few times a year to give concerts and teach.  The viola player is from Japan and is only 23 years old.  We were treated to some very skillful and complicated musical performances that held our attention for the evening.  We saw lots of friends at the well-attended event, and Cat enjoyed her first classical music concert.

The dogs got baths today.  Daku was a real trouper, standing still but looking like he was being tortured.  After it was over he tore around the yard doing what we call 'The Crazy Run'.  Dashing back and forth across the lawn, turning sharply, and then suddenly doing a 'lawn dive'.  BamBam can actually run and shake herself at the same time.  Amazing little dog.  It was the perfect day for them to dry off in the warmth of the sun, even though they both rolled around on the grass a lot.  (555)

Today's photo was taken in the gift shop at Art Bridge.  It's a Bamboo-framed mountain bike.  Our artist friend Yai, who works with bamboo, was a consultant on the project.  The company is now selling these.

Have a Great Week.

             Peace,
                       Danny
