Doctor

Hi,

Today was a little warmer than yesterday.  We are happy about that.  Our friend Frank wrote to tell us not to pack away the warm clothes.  The temps in Southern California are very similar to what we recently experienced here in Chiang Rai.  It’s those lows in the mid-40’s that get me.  Message received and thanks.

The ‘Easy Monday’ song was “Santa Baby” by Eartha Kitt.  This week’s ‘Middle Song’ is a holiday blues:
“Bells will be ringing this sad, sad news.  Oh what a Christmas, to have the blues.  My baby’s gone, I have no friends, to wish me greetings once again.  Choirs will be singing, ‘Silent Night’, Christmas carols by candlelight.  __ __ __ __ __, __ __ __ __ __, If not by Christmas, by New Years night…”  Hint: A holiday plea.  A hit in two different eras.

This morning we went without breakfast, following instructions for our blood tests to check our cholesterol and blood sugar levels.  I also had them check to see if my anemia was still gone.  After they took our blood we were hungry, so we went to The Wanderer for breakfast, and we were actually "breaking our fast."  Lisa had a sane, balanced meal.  I went for dessert, French toast with sliced apples and caramel drizzle.

Our doctor would not be in until 11:30am so we went visiting at Teppawan Art Supply.  This time we got a parking spot and spent some time visiting.  I had an interesting conversation with Pete, son of the owners, about his 7 year old son.  His son Charles is into computer games, but they are serious learning devices.  One of them has him learning how to build a house, including the supplies needed.  The other game he likes teaches how to do coding to control a robot.  I learned something new today.

Back at the hospital, we got our results and my blood is doing great.  My cholesterol is high.  So, diet changes are in order.  We went through the things we eat and discovered the things that are a part of the cause.  At first I thought I’d have to give up my special cacao cookies that Natcha makes but they are ‘clean’.  We both consume various things derived from the coconut.  The bread I have for breakfast is made with coconut flour, we use coconut oil for some cooking, and a lot of treats we enjoy use coconut flour also.  This fruit that has so many benefits also contributes to higher cholesterol levels.  Note: we will be doing further research on how to lower these levels.

The rest of the day was a blur.  After lunch we took a short nap, and had our Skype visit with Tasmania, I went to my meeting, had dinner and then took JaiDee for his walk.

Several readers wanted to know about ‘The Hawk’ reference, so here goes.  I first heard the term used in the 50’s by comedian Dick Gregory.  ‘The Hawk’ is a term used to describe very cold weather, in some cases cold wind.  Gregory told a story of walking down the street in Chicago and, upon reaching the corner of a building, was hit by ‘The Hawk’, who asked:  ‘Where’s your overcoat.’  In conclusion, ‘The Hawk’ is not Thai (555).

Today’s photo is one of the decorations around the mall tree.  I just love this little guy.

It feels like a Wacky Wednesday.

                         Peace,
                                   Danny
